I applied the 23rd of November and I asked the admissions officer when I would get a decision and they said it can take anywhere from 4-8 weeks to get a response. Hopefully we’ll get a decision before Christmas.
@brightstar22 I applied early action on October 23rd. I’m in the top 3% of my class (6 overall), have a 3.95 unweighted GPA, and scored 1470 out of 1600 on the SATs.
I was hearing that the more competitive natures such as Nursing and Pharm were on hold and wouldn’t hear until January, but apparently that was incorrect.
Also it might help that I’m male and the majority of Nursing majors are female.
I was accepted today as a regular decision student! My application was confirmed on October 18th.
Good luck to those still waiting for a decision!
It seems like the rolling admissions decisions are random. Some people hear after a week and some it takes two months. I hope I’m closer to the former
Yep, it certainly does seem randomized. I applied on 10/31 as a transfer and still haven’t heard back. I can only assume that transfers are held to rolling admissions standards. It’ll have been eight weeks this coming Monday…
Is anyone interested in joining a group me for accepted students?
Did anyone notice that on the TU portal it used to say “during peak admissions periods it may take up to 4-8 weeks for you decision”…now it’s “it may take over 8 weeks…”
Interesting.
Hi- I just did the net price calculator on College Board for Temple and it states that out of state tuition is now,
$50,000 with room and board at $13,000, making the price $63,000. This cannot be right, correct? There is no way they doubled their OOS tuition. College Board still has it listed as $26,000 (approx) but when I did the net price calculator, that’s what is showed. I am thinking it must be some glitch…
Yes that is incorrect. I tried it just to see and I got the same thing, but that it is NOT the tuition rate at Temple.
Thank you- I thought I was losing it!!!
My OOS D attends Temple and her tuition for the upcoming semester is around 17K, this can vary depending on major, she is in the Fox School of Business. Room and board is approx. 6-7K per semester, housing rates vary by dorm.
@mamag2855 did she get any financial or merit aid?
She has the full tuition presidential scholarship, so $17k is the billed amount for the current semester tuition, and we get a credit on the bill for that full amount. There are also some fees which are not included in the scholarship. I can’t recall the exact amount but will update when I have a chance to check the bill again.
Has anyone applied rolling and gotten in so far? They downloaded my application almost exactly one month ago, hoping to find out soon.
@mamag2855 Were you ale to check what the amount of the fees are that were not covered with the Presidential Scholarship as my daughter was awarded the Presidential and I am curious in addition to room and board what are the additional fees that are not covered. Any info you have will be greatly appreciated. Thanks !
@lorhop this year it is $445 a semester for the university services fee and the maticulation fee (once) is $218 dollars.
@jnkam24 Thanks so much again for the info and your help - you have been a huge help.
Can I ask you a few more quick questions - how is Temple campus on the weekends ? Do a lot of people stay weekends as my daughter is looking for a campus that if she stays the weekend is active with plenty to do.
What are your thoughts about safety on campus? She would be living at 1300 in Honors Dorms.
Do you find the campus in general to be lively with a lot going on ?
@jnkam24 thanks for posting the fees info., I got side tracked with holiday stuff and travel and forgot to check. @lorhop My D lives in 1300 and really likes it. The rooms are pretty large and location is convenient. There is lobby security and all guests must sign in with ID and be escorted by the student being visited. The campus has felt very safe when we have visited her, campus security is generally a visible presence. We constantly remind her to be vigilant, especially when out at night. There are security escorts readily available with a quick phone call if needed. The area around the campus is not great, but seems to keep improving gradually as TU expands, and more of the surrounding neighborhoods are being rehabbed as student housing. There was an incident earlier in the fall, where a flash mob of middle schoolers from the area assaulted several students, and the safety alert system sent out a notice several hours later. TU has stepped up weekend security patrols and improved the alert system to get info out faster. My D and her friends have had no issues.
She always seems to doing fun stuff over the weekends and there seems to be plenty going on both on and off campus. She sometimes takes the subway to center city with friends, goes to an occasional movie, out for a casual dinner, etc. The football games are fun and she went to some of those, students can get season passes to attend, at a nominal cost (wild cherry club student pass) Basketball games are well attended also.
@mamag2855 Thanks so much - all of your info about is very, very helpful.
Is there a person in lobby security in 1300 24/7 or just camera security ?
She really loved it when we visited a few months ago and we are going back mid Feb. for admitted student Experience Temple Day and Honors reception and have decided to stay the weekend at the b &B on campus to get a feel for it on a Saturday night - she can’t wait and is very excited. Thanks again - really appreciate all of your help.
I may be back to you again with more questions later if you don’t mind. Really appreciate it - most helpful.
1300 has a 24 hour manned security desk in the entry lobby.
