@adam2k17 I feel the same way!!
@adam2k17 I would call if i were you. I would say something like “Hi, I am calling to check the status of my application, I have been waiting since 12/08 and I just wanted to know if you had everything” The person should give you a rundown of your application. If you get an nice person they may pull some strings. I just called yesterday and when I checked my TUportal it said congrats than went back to normal. The only difference is that they added a new step. The funny thing is that the step only appears for admitted students.
I’m on the same boat! I applied to Temple December 30th and I still haven’t heard back! I am not sure what I should do at this point.
Who else is getting ready to put in a housing app on Saturday? My friend and I are transferring to Temple from the same cc as juniors and are hoping to get a two person studio apt in 1300!!
Oh my goodness. I know my D applied late - finalized January 13th, but still, this wait is so hard. Especially now with the housing opening on Saturday. Temple is her #1 choice and the check is all but written! Ugh.
Housing fills up quickly but the LLCs take applications after the regular housing is filled so I’d suggest she check out those and consider applying to one of them. My D16 was closed out of housing when she put in her deposit but got into an LLC and she is in one of the freshman dorms with other freshman that aren’t in the LLC.
Just got denied from Temple. I did Temple Option and have a 3.6UW GPA. What does not make sense to me is that under “Your application has been decided. Click here to see your decision.” is “You have outstanding financial aid requirements that are preventing your award from being finalized. Please check the Student Financial Services
channel for more information.” If my application got denied, home come they’re still asking me to submit additional materials for financial aid?
Will I still be able to get housing towards the end of March? I’d like to find out where else I got in first.
Ohmigosh @julietxn ! I’m so sorry to hear that! That is crazy! Is the financial aid requirement notice checked off or needing to be checked off?
@photowoman it’s not checked off which seems peculiar like I’m unsure if I got denied or accepted because of the financial aid on the to-do list
@huet99 I think Temple holds some housing for when freshman and transfers can apply so you might find housing still. It goes pretty fast though and it was reported today that Peabody Hall won’t be used for housing next year. It’s an old dorm that only houses about 300 students but they’ve said they will be opening up other housing options. Plus the LLCs will be available and a good option of housing closes up.
Update on bubble son (3.49 GPA, 1130 new SAT): Portal updated a few days ago to “on hold” with instructions to check email. No email yet, but guessing they want senior year grades or he’s waitlisted. The wait (from late December) continues.
I find myself rooting for the kids and parents on this thread (as I did 2 years ago on another thread while searching for clues and answers for an older son). Wondering how the gracious @Adam2k17 and @photowoman are faring? You’ve both seemed genuinely happy for those who were accepted while you tried waiting patiently. @Adam2k, @bbaker10 and @brightstar22 – you (or you kids) were in same “on hold” as my son. Have you been updated? I understand the torture and for some of us the pain of rejection. The good news is a rejection (which I kind of expect for my son) isn’t the end, but a beginning. An alternative college is waiting and rarely, if ever, will you look back with regrets. My son from 2 years ago wanted badly to go to UDel (he was offered a UDel program in DC for a semester and main campus in Spring), but instead went to his second choice (Penn State). I don’t think he’s thought of UDel once since.
@brucemag thanks for your post! It makes me happy to see people get their acceptances! Alas, we are still waiting here. Hopeful, but waiting! Temple is my d’s #1 choice.
@julietxn That is strange. We got that same financial aid message, but it is checked off. Still waiting for a decision though. Did it actually say you were not accepted?
My son was accepted OOS Temple is the first school to offer ZERO merit aid to him
They said that they had a huge number of applicants and is extremely competitive. Not paying 45,000 plus per year
@brucemag Still waiting! I am going to call tonight to see what the status of my application is. I am starting to make final tours and would like to tour Temple while I am in the area (I am from Maine) and need to know if I should include Temple on the list. Wish me luck! @photowoman hope you have good luck as well!
@photowoman yeah it says “applicant denied”. I emailed them last night so hopefully I get a response
The “askanowl” email is a joke in my opinion, they take forever to get back to you. I had a conversation with them in September 2016 and got a response about once a week, if that. I also emailed them last week and still have not heard back. However, I just got off the phone with them and asked if there was anything needed on my application and she asked me to read what was on the portal, which says the application is complete. I then asked if there was a date that we’d hear back from, and she told me that Temple was behind on the applications received this year. From what she said, I hope to hear back within the next two weeks.
@julietxn Sorry to hear about your application! Does the portal say “applicant denied” where it once said “awaiting a decision”? I’d also recommend calling admissions.
@adam2k17 yeah it does say “applicant denied” where it once said “awaiting decision”. I just got off the phone with the admissions office and was told that the decision is correct. A little bummed about it but I have other offers from many great schools. Tried to ask if I could be re-evaluated for a different major but it’s not an option
