I won’t get all of my admissions decisions until late March/ early April if I were to wait until then mid-April to submit my deposits would I still be okay housing wise. Or would all the housing be gone (Hardwick/Johnson). Temple is my top choice so I don’t want to miss out on housing because I won’t be able to commute? I don’t have the money either and my parents won’t be willing to pay that much without hearing about financial aid decisions from other schools. What should I do?
Most schools will not refund the enrollment deposit, but will refund the housing deposit if it is canceled by a certain date. You need to call Temple to inquire.

Yeah, I’m in the same boat @chiandrics , I bet most of us are. It would be nice if Temple waited until April to open the housing selection process for freshman, that way we’d have a more complete understanding of where we stand with all our apps before committing money.
I checked into it and @dygibbs is right. The enrollment deposit is non-refundable, but the housing deposit is if canceled by a certain date (I think it was in May). I read through the admission thread from last year and it looked like housing goes really fast. I bit the bullet and sent in my deposits because I wanted a preferential spot in the selection process. For me it’s not such a huge gamble because one of the schools I’m waiting on I’ve already ruled out, and the other is a HUGE reach school that would have to back up an unlikely acceptance with a HUGE amount of money. So it’s almost certain that I’m Temple-bound.
I would bet Temple makes a tidy sum each year from people who forfeit their enrollment deposits because they felt pressure to get a housing spot before they were ready to commit.
