Temple Merit Scholarship Petition

I just got my admissions letter back from Temple and received only 14k in aid. I am very pissed, I have a 3.763 gpa, 1430 SAT and earned a 4.3 for my senior semester 1 grades. I have been already admitted to several far better ranked schools with scholarships and was counting on a large scholarship from temple to make it my #1. Does anyone know how I can petition for more aid?

Which other schools did you get accepted to? For the higher ranked ones, did you receive better merit aid?

Well, the first step is to get rid of the anger.
Google the subject and you will find a step by step process for appealing. You can’t come off as angry and deserving. You’ll state that Temple is you #1 choice but financially other schools make more sense. And don’t call it a petition or act like you’re negotiating at a barn sale. Read up on the subject and you’ll see if is not unusual and can be successful. It is easier, however, at a private college.

From your other posts, you got into Fordham and Boston College as a recruited athlete. BC only offers merit to the top 15 freshmen so I’m assuming you didn’t receive a scholarship from them. That leaves Fordham. Given that Fordham’s tuition is almost double that of the OOS Temple rate, unless you received a $25,000 scholarship from Fordham, you are still better off financially in the end at Temple.

I was also accepted to fordham, Saint Marys, USF (not as an athlete) UCSD, BC and NJIT (offered a full ride)

Alright, I think you should either (1) wait till you receive your award letter to find out how much Temple will cost you in total with grants and other scholarships before taking action, or (2) start now by contacting them to ask if they can slide some more $$ your way by mentioning the full ride to NJIT (assuming you aren’t in-state for there).
