I’ll share our stats. Daughter is going for Film school and has a 3.6 HS GPA but a 3.9 college GPA (she is taking junior and senior year of HS at the local community college). No ACT or SAT scores. Applied Early Action 11/14. Accepted on 12/8. No merit aid in her offer.
Nope…still waiting
I personally received my honors acceptance about a week after my initial acceptance. Along with the Honors acceptance it included my merit scholarship.
Same

I’ve only replied here once or twice but I wanted to share my stats/classes after being accepted as I found seeing other students stats was helpful for me!
Out of State student from MD.
3.7 UW, 4.16 W GPA, 1220 SAT score, 2 Dual enrollment classes, 5 AP’s total.
Mostly A’s in high school, exception of 3 or 4 B’s, even a C in there!
Avg. club participation (4 or 5), no leadership roles except 1 as a dance captain for two years. volunteer work (300 hours)
I ended up being accepted (Klein, Advertising) after applying on 10/20, heard back 11/12. Heard about Honors acceptance on 11/18, along with 18k/yr Provosts Scholarship. Very thankful and I am hopefully going to be an Owl in 2021!
Good luck everyone!
Congrats !!!
It’s still cheaper to attend Rutgers with $5K merit for instate: $30K-5K= $25K
vs
attending U of Delaware with $15K merit for OOS: $52K-15K=37K
It’s only $35,000, but she didn’t like Rutgers at all, and loved UD (no offense to Rutgers, her dad and sister graduated from there, and I see ds21 going there), they are such different campuses. But my point was, colleges tend to give more merit to OOS to make up for the higher tuition to make it worth it to kids with stats above their average. A Delaware resident with the exact stats of my NJ student would be offered less merit.
Can’t make any sense of Temples Merit awards. High stats kids are seeing 3k to 5k awards, while mid level kids are seeing much larger awards. While I am happy for those getting good money, feel sorry for all the kids that worked really hard for that grades, only to be disappointed with what Temple offered.
I would like to understand merit awards and the rationale behind it. My daughter got nothing. She’s not an off-the-charts student but we did anticipate $3k-$5k.
No rhyme or reason is all I can say.
Maybe it has to do with the different schools/majors they applied to?
i got my acceptance from tyler today !!!
At pretty much all public colleges, higher merit goes to out of state kids to bring the cost down to in-state. My daughters usually get around $18,000 from public OOS schools, there is no way they’d get that much for NJ schools.
Comforting to hear I’m not the only one. I’m most certainly not a whiz, and wasn’t expecting a full scholarship whatsoever, but it’s baffling to only receive a $3k a year scholarship (In-state) when I had a 3.87 UW with 7 APs at a prep high school, and a 1450 SAT. As you can see, my stats aren’t wildly insane, but I was expecting more than 3,000 a year.
I think that’s pretty good for being in state, my older kids had similar stats and got nothing from TCNJ or Rutgers.
We’re OOS and got nothing so it’s really a confusing place to be. We had a call with an admissions adviser today who confirmed to us if that if we were going to get merit, it would be in acceptance letter from the 9th and not coming at a later time.
I wonder if any of it is connected to financial aid? For example, maybe they are giving less to students who are applying for FA and more to students who are not? They also may be giving more to students with other hooks that they want to recruit, like first gen students. Not sure - I’m just “spitballing” here…
