Hello, I was just recently admitted to the UF fall term, and while I am ecstatic, I have a question regarding this.
So I applied for fall, and got it. However, my very best friend applied for fall and got summer B. Is there any way I can switch to summer B? I know it's usually the summer students who want fall, but I would just like to know if this is possible.
It mainly has to do with sharing an apartment and me not being able to if I start a different term. Please let me know, thank you!

You’re going to start a term earlier so you am your very best friend can start school together? Interesting. Why don’t you move in with your very best friend in the aparment? Is it a school affiliated apartment?

I believe you can contact admissions and explain your situation and they will most likely move you.

Isn’t it true that everyone must attend a summer term anyways? & everyone has been saying that summer B is a great opportunity for freshmen to meet others, learn the campus, etc before the rush of the students come Fall.
I most likely will attend fall term, I was just curious if I’d be able to switch. The apartments were not affliated with the campus, but did have certain terms of restrictions. I’m still undecided if I’m going to live on campus or off. Anyone have opinions on this?

Almost every college student I’ve met has recommended living on campus. Living on campus helps you meet other students easily and be closer to all the action on campus. I know a lot of people who regret not living on campus because they missed out on the traditional fresman experience. At least give it a try for a year. It will be a growing experience learning how to live with others. Also, I would think it would be easier to live in a dorm and just pay a certain amount every semester rather than deal with several different bills each month in an apartment. Furthermore, it has been said that students who live on campus have higher grades and graduation rates!

I appreciate your opinion! You made some great points. The particular apartments I was looking into was all inclusive, approximately 400 a month and it’s a four-room apartment. It may sound petty, but I’m not sure how well I’ll do having to share a bathroom with many others… I’m an only child, so I’m used to being able to spend as long as I want getting ready in the morning…You may not know, but how many people share a single bathroom in the UF dorms?

I would think you can spend as much time as you want getting ready in the morning, especially if you have a community style bathroom, because everyone has different schedules! As far as who shares how many bathrooms that really depends on which dorm you choose. If you choose a suite-style dorm you and 3 others will share a bathroom. If you live in a traditional-style dorm it may be 50 people sharing a bathroom with 8 toilets, 8 sinks, and 8 showers (this is how someone living in Jennings described it).

Devons724 - I am an only child too and had no trouble to adapting to dorm life in the old Hume Hall with community bathrooms in 1988. There were plenty of showers, sinks and toilets. The plus side of community bathrooms is that they are cleaned by professionals.
