TERM: The Educational Reform Movement

Hey everyone,

So, what I'm about to say is probably going to sound a little...out there. Maybe a bit too far fetched. But I hope that you guys read on and don't pass this off too quickly. I thought this might be the best place to ask this because I know all of you are studious and care about education.

This year I started an organization in my school for educational reform called TERM: The Educational Reform Movement. We started out small, just a few members, but within a month we got on national TV (The TODAY Show and Anderson Cooper 360), and a month later we were making local headlines based on a protest we held at our school (you can see all the media coverage at <a href="http://www.termonline.org/#/media/4546617541%5B/url%5D">http://www.termonline.org/#/media/4546617541</a>).</p>

But in order to truly make a difference for today's educational system, we need to go nationwide, and the reason I'm posting here is not to advertise or try and get you to join, but because we're looking for a core group of at least 50 members, one or more from each state, who can help lead this movement. One little club in a small town can't do much.

If you think this is too crazy and far fetched, don't bother responding. But if you have any faith in this idea of creating a national network of students that will fight for representation and change in the current U.S educational system , please respond. You can either message me here, or you can contact me from the Contact Us page on the site.

I’m in. What do I do?

Same as Nadizzle, sounds good what do we need to do?

I’m going to send you all private messages. I’ll say everything there.

I am in. PM Me. Thank God there are people out there with a similar vision as I do.

Also, be aware that some of the information on the site is a bit outdated. Once we get the core group of state representatives together we’ll revise some things.

Let me know if you got the PMs. I sent them out, but my outbox is empty.

Lawl, so you do want us to join. I wish you’d make up your mind.

Idk, I’m seeing this as more of a ‘Harvard, look I started a national reform’ than as a serious attempt. Your goals are far too vague. What exactly are you trying to achieve?

You’ve posted this before.

After you do this are you going to volunteer at a hospital and join FBLA?

Dusterbug, no, I have no interest in going into business. Doing things just because they’ll look good for college isn’t for me.

HarryJones, Harvard is actually one of the colleges pretty low down on my list. My top choices are much easier to get into and I don’t think I need too much help to get in. The specifics of our goals will be ironed out once we get a core group of 50 or so. We can’t decide on any concrete goal before we know if all the core members will agree on it. There’s so much that needs to be changed that even if what we decide on isn’t my number one priority, it’s better than alienating potentially dedicated leaders and thus not making any difference because we can’t get anything off the ground nationally. I’m explaining more specifics in the PMs though.

Like I said in my post, if you’re not interested enough in making a change in education that you won’t take a chance to find out more about this by PMing me, you’re probably not the type of leader we’re looking for.

^no need to be snarky.

I’m not being snarky, just concise.

I’m in you can PM me.

Can you PM me too?

Can you post what you’re hoping to do in this thread.

Please don’t PM me.

I would be interested in a PM.

Pfft, guys if you want PMs, you don’t need to go to this guy. I know how to send them too.

I KNOW I’m not the type of leader that you are looking for. I just don’t see why this is such top secret information that you don’t want to post it on a message board.

Surely you must have at least one thing you want to achieve? Otherwise, why bother to start this organization?

PERPETuAL MOTIONS DONT EXIST

Of course we have set goals, but as I’ve said in my PMs I don’t want to make anything 100% official until the state reps and I have discussed everything. There will be things that I believe we should fight for that the majority may not agree with or may be too unrealistic, and thus I’m not going to say here that TERM will be fighting for ______ until it’s been voted on. Our goals will not be far from what I already have planned, but I’m not going to make any type of official statement - being the leader of this organization, if I post something here it will become official and anyone can always find it.

Once everything is settled I’ll post it here and on the site officially.

You can use xml tags to avoid that.

 2. Goal 2
