I had terrible freshmen year and had a 3.0 GPA
However, for my sophomore and junior years I’ve had a 4.0 GPA , and I think I have a good resume . Will competitive universities care about my freshmen year ?
*unweighted 4.0 GPA
if you show improvement, you’ll be fine. I’m sure colleges will take into account the adjustment into high school and steady improvement seems a lot better than unchanged average grades throughout.
Colleges look for either steady excellence (A’s all throughout high school) or steady improvement (average grade to stellar ones). Improvement shows tenacity, and a genuine care for your education.
Colleges like improvement. Also keep in mind that there are quite a few schools that will calculate your GPA excluding freshman year. You can target some of these schools in applications if you are concerned about a 3.0 freshman year.
