Test Scores

GWU is my first choice school--I'm absolutely in love with it. My GPAs (weighted and unweighted) are slightly above average and I have very impressive extracurriculars and volunteer service activities/hours. I've showed a lot of interest in the school and I'm confident in my essay and recommendations. The only problem is my standardized test scores. I'm only taking the ACT and, so far, I've scored below a 28 (the average accepted).

Does GW heavily weigh test scores? Will it substantially affect my chances?

I am one hundred percent certain that it was my test scores and my essay that got me into GW, as my GPA was far below average. As long as you aren’t too far below it (I’d say a 26 at the absolute lowest) you should have an alright chance. But I’d work on getting that score up, or at least considering the SAT.

28 isn’t just the average, it’s the 25th percentile. anyone below that is either a recruited athlete, has a perfect gpa, etc.

Can you apply early? It would help.
