I have some questions about tests during orientation. First of all, if you do poorly on the math test, what's the lowest math class they would put you in? I wouldn't mind retaking Pre-Calculus as my mind's a little fuzzy on some concepts, but if I had to take one lower than that, I wouldn't like that. Is the Math test fairly simple or difficult?

Also, in one of the UGA letters I received, it said some might have to take the reading test. How do they determine who has to and who doesn't? Based on SAT/ACT scores?

I think there is a class lower than the precalc class, but I'm not too sure about that. I passed it by one question. I think somewhere on the math department website, there is a study guide for the math test. You might have to do some real digging to find it, but I remember finding it last summer.

As for the reading test, you can get exempted depending on your SAT scores or AP scores I believe. You probably could just call the admissions office or something to verify my info.

In order to exempt the english placement test, you have to score at least 580 on the critical reading section on the SAT. You will be notified by mail if you have to take the reading comprehension test. I remember seeing there were a couple of math classes below precalc on the UGA Bulletin page... something called Mathematics Modeling I think.

I'm almost sure that only freshmen have to take the placement tests and not transfer students.

Most of this stuff is on the orientation page at the undergrad admissions website.

I just got back yesterday from orientation, and it was something... I did not have to take the English placement test since I have already gotten my English 1101 and 1102 credits from a community college. However, the math placement test was decent. I am going to take Pre-Calc in the Fall, primarily because I've forgotten so much already.
