Texas A&M Scholarships for Out-0f-State Students

My son is looking into applying to Texas A&M next year. Does anyone have any information on their scholarship packages for out-of-state students. I know they offer a non-resident tuition waiver for any student that receives a $1000+ scholarship, but do they offer additional scholarships that would potentially cover the remaining costs? If so, what gpa, test scores or additional qualifications are they looking for? Their website isn't very helpful with this.

Is your child a likely NMSF? if so, there are awards for that.

Are your child’s stats well with the top 25% for the school? What are your child’s stats?

Yes I would like to know as my son might transfer

Many of those scholarships will not be offered to a transfer student.

Not NMSF. Current GPA is a 3.7. Test score is a 30 ACT composite but he will likely take it again in the fall.

Here is their info regarding transfer scholarships

GPA is a 3.7. Test score is a 30 ACT composite but he will likely take it again in the fall.

The problem is that an ACT 30 is within the middle quartiles. The upper quartile is ACT 31-36.

He would very likely need a score that is WELL-WITHIN the upper quartile in order to get a scholarship. The upper quartile of frosh would be 2,000 students (8,000 frosh enroll), so obviously, they’re not giving substantial scholarships to 2,000+ students.

What exactly are you looking for? How much do you want to pay each year? From your post, it sounds like paying “instate COA of $21k per year” is still more than what you want to pay. (and that’s only if he were to get instate rates)

If you want to pay a lot less than $21k per year, then you’ll need to look at schools below TAMU’s ranking that give large merit for stats.
