My son is a prospective 2014 TAMU student. We have submitted his application on Apply Texas including the Scholarship section. Can anyone give us some information on scholarships at A&M beyond the standard info available via the college. When do you hear about the scholarships included in the Apply Texas process? Besides the info we provided on Apply Texas do we need to be doing something else or do they contact us? Our son is top 1% with a 2030 SAT (first take). He has maintained a 4.0 GPA and only missed the National Merit by a few points. Any help from folks who have been through this process is appreciated.

We’d also be interested in GPA’s needed to keep scholarships (like music dept’s) that allow for OOS to pay in-state rates. Thanks!

I am not sure about specific scholarships, but with the credentials you have listed, seems like he should be fine. If he can, try to come as an honors college student. Look into that. I know a lot of people with a really bad credentials who don’t pay a dime. However, it does include a great deal of financial aid. It also depends on the college he is applying to and the department too. Try to contact the college advisers and department advisers. They should be a great resource.
