Consider engineering at TAMU college station a reach. If you are out of state, consider it even more of a reach. Your SAT and math score is low compared to the higher stat engineering applicant you will be competing with for a spot. Most engineering admits (but not all) are auto admits or academic admits to the university, in addition to undergoing holistic review for engineering. Those admitted who are holistic review, have higher SAT and math scores.

Applications open a month early this year (July 1). Last year offered early decisions for engineering if you submitted your complete application by Oct. 15 and regular decision by Dec. 1. There were a few hiccups along the way so it is yet known if they will offer the same deadlines for fall 2018 and if the wrinkles were ironed out.

That you will have completed Cal BC and Phyics 2 is good. It shows a readiness that A&M deem important.

Besides the College Station campus, you might be considered for engineering at Galveston. This is not something you can apply to, but are offered for admissions. Students offered this program automatically transfer to College Station campus and engineering there at the completion of their freshman year.

Another admissions path you could be offered is Texas A&M Engineering Academy at Blinn in Bryan. This is a different program that you can apply directly to as well, via the Apply Texas application, that is:

A co-enrollment program between TAMU and Blinn-Brenham Community College partnership is the Engineering Academy at Blinn or Brenham or Austin Community College/

Here is a FAQ page that gives a better discription in the differences in the programs and how each works. Read all of the links on the left as well.
https://www.blinn.edu/teab/faq.html the direct answer here https://www.blinn.edu/teab/faq.html#q3

A brand new program is Engineering Academy at Austin Community College. https://engineering.tamu.edu/academies/austincommunity/securing-your-admission http://sites.austincc.edu/campaigns/texas-am-chevron-engineering-academy-at-austin-community-college/

Lastly, is a new program for Engineering in the Rio Grand Valley in McAllen, TX. You will need to contact them regarding the academy. https://engineering.tamu.edu/academics/engineering-at-mcallen

I am in state. I have a last chance to take my SAT. Like you said previously, if my scores are low, what score can get me to be considered at the main campus

Also if im choosing an unpopular engineering major, wouldn’t I have a better chance at getting a spot.

There is no unpopular engineering major. You need to read up on admissions to engineering on TAMU website.
https://engineering.tamu.edu/academics/advisors-procedures/entry-to-a-major

Freshmen are not admitted directly into a major. All freshmen are accepted into the general engineering program and then apply to a specific major during the second semester of their second semester. https://engineering.tamu.edu/academics/advisors-procedures/entry-to-a-major/general-engineering-program/class-of-2020

Review applicants for competitive majors like engineering and Mays business, are offered few spots. It does happen, but the spots are few. There is no known score to be one of those applicants because their admissions was based on their who applicant file, not just a score, and no one has access to what was in that file except the admissions people.

If you qualified as an academic admit, minimum 1360 SAT with 620 Math; and 660 Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW), you would have a better chance for engineering consideration.

Be sure to also apply to safety schools, both in terms of acceptance and affordability. You won’t get any merit aid from A&M or UT. All too often on CC, applicants are accepted to a university that they cannot afford to attend. Apply to other instate schools with engineering programs, like
UT Dallas, https://engineering.utdallas.edu/academics/undergraduate-majors/, UT Arlington https://engineering.utdallas.edu/academics/undergraduate-majors/ University of Houston https://www.egr.uh.edu/academics/undergraduate-programs Texas Techhttp://www.depts.ttu.edu/coe/academics/degrees.php University of North Texas https://engineering.unt.edu/undergrad. You may have a better chance at one of these, as they are not as competitive as UT and A&M. A&M and UT. I only listed some public Uni’s. There are private schools as well, but will also have higher costs.
