<p>I am entering ASU this Fall 2010 as a freshman so I am new to the whole “expensive textbooks” thing. So, I did my textbook reservations and I nearly fainted at the total cost. I have 17 required books. 10 are for the Human Event for Barrett. D:
BUT I was wondering if anyone on here knows of a place to get textbooks cheaper? I remember talking to someone who went to ASU and she said she never gets textbooks through ASU and I believe she suggested to look on Amazon or something for my books. I decided to just reserve all of my books and between now and when I pick them up, I am just going to research on finding my books cheaper somewhere else. There are a few books for the Human Event (like Hamlet, Canterbury Tales, Inferno etc) that I will probably just go to the public library for when I need them. Anyone have any suggestions or know of a place that will help?</p>
<p>You can always check Craiglist to see if someone is selling the book you need. Also, half.com has some good deals.</p>

<p>With human event books, you have to be sure you get the correct edition of the book (All those books are published by several publishing companies and have various intros, translations, etc.). So, when you are going through the books in class, you can refer to the right pages and when you cite or quote from the book, your essays align with the professor. Professors are very strict about this.</p>
<p>For the novels for human event, try stores like half-price books to see if they carry that edition. Otherwise I’ve heard a lot of people say amazon is the best.</p>
<p>Yeah the only ones that I am probably going to end up getting through ASU are my Math books and a few of the Human Event novels. Their prices aren’t TOO bad for the novels new or used (surprisingly). christalena2, Yes I almost forgot about that! I remember how much of a pain in AP Lit. it was to have a different edition than the professor! ugh! So now, I am making SURE I have the same edition! Thanks for the advice everyone!</p>
<p>If you copy the isbn directly from the bookstore web site into amazon or half.com you can be sure of getting the right edition. Also if you can’t find the book on amazon or half.com you can try renting it…a lot of books you’ll never look at again anyway. I haven’t rented any myself yet, but I’ve heard good things from a few of my friends</p>
