The new CC format is difficult for my eyes and brain, so I am not coming on the site any more. The changed format happens to coincide with my daughter's graduation from college, a time for reflection and change anyway. I have been on CC for seven years now and have really enjoyed it, and appreciate all the connections made. I have also enjoyed following others' kids through college or conservatory. Wishing everyone luck with applications and auditions and thanks to all for the ride!

No! You can’t leave us. We won’t let you! (But congratulations on your daughter’s graduation!) really, don’t go.

compmom, you have been such a great source of wisdom and experience for us all. Yes, this new format is awful–I hate it! But, I sure wish you would stay awhile, so that we can all continue to benefit from your posts. All the best to you and your daughter.

I kind of like it --except the type is too small, so I have to enlarge it in my browser-- and the contrast is too high. You have to wonder whether they consulted designers… but don’t go compmom!

Oh, no, please don’t go. I haven’t been a member long, and I hate, hate, hate this new format, too, but losing you would be very sad. You’ve helped me (and many others, I imagine) so much in the past months. That said, I totally understand. Sometimes it’s just time to move on. Congratulations to your daughter. I’m happy to hear about that, and hope to share a PM or two in the next couple months, if that’s okay!

No way . Compmom — you are an invaluable resource on the Music Major forum.

…and congratulations on your daughters success. But please stay and tell us about her post graduate success as well.

Besides, how could you leave a new format that allows you to use the following: :ar! 3:-O :o3

GH-
They probably did consult designers, that is the problem, the various “visionaries” come up with color schemes and such, you wonder what planet they were from lol.

( was kidding-- I know they consulted designers…just not good ones.) Hobsons, Inc. owns CC and now this looks like one of their sites.)

Sounds like the Bob Dylan song The Times They Are A-Changin’ is appropriate for this thread. First the change to the CC format and now Compmom leaving. I echo onekidmama’s post in that I haven’t been a member very long but I have read many of Compmom’s post and found them very thoughtful and wise. Congratulations to you and your daughter! All the best.

Thanks all and I hope we can stay in touch. My daughter’s graduation wouldn’t really affect my participation here, I might even enjoy it more. The real reason, honestly, is the format. Every time I try to come on, I get a migraine. I just can’t do it anymore unless something changes. Even the old “classic” colors would help.

I am so impressed with the impassioned support of parents here for their kids’ pursuit of music. No matter what path our children choose, let’s hope they always have music!

The new format is horrid, and I am in full agreement about it triggering migraines-- I’ve had two since the switch and find that I can only be here for a few minutes at a time. Hoping that you stick around though, compmom, because your perspective is unique and valuable. Best to your D!!

Please don’t go, we’ll eat you up, we love you so…definitely not worth a migraine. I hope they’ll make changes so you can stay.

Congratulations and best wishes to your D! I hope you occasionally come back to “visit” as we would love to hear updates as well as continue to learn from your experiences. Here’s hoping CC makes some format adjustments…

I hope you find some peace (and by that I mean no migraines) with the format and congratulations to your daughter. I have learned so much here and your input has been much appreciated!!!

I tried enlarging the text on this site, and it’s a definite improvement for me. At least I can read some of the small light type now.

Compmom-
Try increasing the size of the screen (ctrl+ in windows, Command+ in Apple OS)…do that a couyeah, I told scott to push to get that changed…especially for external requests, could cause issues…
le of times, and it is a lot more readable:)

Problem is everyone suddenly thinks they are the new Zuckerberg, everything is social media and lists, etc, etc…going to be interesting to see what happens with facebook, demographics there are trending to an older crowd (i.e those of us who are 29 permanently lol), they may find a lot more resistance to their ‘visionaries’ going down the road:)

I was at a board where the ED said, with a totally straight face, that they were exploring new social media because “Facebook is dying.”

@compmom I know what you mean about the format … it is too bright for my eyes! And the cluttler on the left is distracting as well. You are not alone in your view.

However, I do want to send my thanks as well to you and all the other music parents that I’ve listened to and learned from over the last several years. My D is also graduating from college and is already planning her life outside of college, but the opportunities she has because she followed her talent and passion are possible because of the insight from all of you. I never knew all the ways you can make a decent living related to music until I learned from you and everyone on these music threads, and because of that have been able to support my daughter wholeheartedly. Don’t go, but if you do, I’ll miss you, too.

Came back on for a minute and tried enlarging the print, and that is better, yes. Now, if we could just have the “classic” option back! Will keep checking every once in awhile.

compmom - you have been a wealth of information, wisdom, and compassion. I thank you.
