I am not from US and I don't know much about their school system. I know I must understand it in order to make a parallel between this one and the one I belong to in order to send the right information to colleges. I guess it's useful to start a thread about this differences and to help each other complete the forms.

first question: what is GPA? Please help!

grade point average. How do you calculate it? no concern of yours except if your school follwed the american system of grading. Just put your class rank and average grades and you would be fine

thanks. And that brings me to my second question ;-) What if our system does not rank students? Should I put an approximate one? I am the second in a class of 31, regarding our grade average, but I've taken part to some school olympiads that are considered harder than school and had very good results, while the girl who has a better grade average has also taken part, but hasn't obtained my great results, and that's why I am considered the best from my class. But it's nothing official, just some teachers' or colleagues' opinions. So, should I put first or second?

Put 1st ;)

Ooh, sneaky Pyro ;)

Technically you are #2, but if you can get your counselor/teacher/principal to sign that you are #1, go ahead!
