Hi I am currently a junior, and I have applied to 2 camps I really hope to get into (NJSP, NJGS). I have been selected as a semifinalist for NJSP and if anyone has any tips for the interview it would be greatly appreciated. However these programs, as with several other programs are very selective and there is a good shot I wont be left with anything in my hand after these admissions are decided. I have also applied to the SUMAC program at Stanford, and the M&TSI program at UPENN. These are also very selective, but also very expensive. Are they any good from your experience? If anyone here knows of other programs that one could apply to that also posses the ohsoimportant quality of carrying a lot of wieght on a college application please share. Thanks! :)

Do I have experience? No. Can I tell right away? Yes. They are good, although I’d choose SUMaC over M&TSI, unless you like engineering and business more than math.

Yes, but their deadlines have all passed. A good key to one of the “best” programs is
a. It’s discussed at least somewhat frequently on CC.
b. It’s free or they pay you; and/or they list a specific acceptance number.

I dispute you claim that “carrying a lot of weight on a college application” is an “ohsoimportant quality”. In fact, it is probably the ohsoleastimportant quality of a so-called prestigious program, just a tad less important than the amount of money they pay you and how much you get to socialize. (Obviously you don’t want to waste a summer at a crap program that isn’t educational.) If you’re going to a summer program to impress adcoms, please: stop; turn around; slap yourself in the face (not too hard!); and think about the educational experience it should be. I’m certainly not saying you shouldn’t bother with these programs, but that augmenting your resume should be the least of your concerns.
