No official results thread yet. It tends to get made right before the decisions go out to make sure it just has decisions in it, instead of lots of talk. Makes it easier for future students.

This is slightly off topic, but are you guys waiting until you hear from Brown to do your RD apps? I feel like I should keep working and get everything done regardless, especially since PLME is ridiculously competitive, but I find it difficult to motivate myself…

I have a bunch of unfinished RD apps right now, waiting to be finished. I won’t bother finishing any of them until I hear from Brown. I still will hear from UChicago EA but apparently their notification date is a pretty late “mid-December.” If Brown doesn’t go well, I’ll work on them soon thereafter.

I’ve done my essay for almost all my other universities. I think so you should too because you don’t know the effect an ED rejection may have on you.

I would highly suggest having nearly finished all your RD apps before you hear back from Brown ED. If you don’t get in or get deferred, you’re probably going to want a few days to mope around, and with the end of your first semester and the holidays, there won’t be much free time to finish the apps properly.

^^ Agreed. Treat every app like the school is your first choice, and do as much as you can now. Rejection can be deadly, especially over the holidays, and there isn’t much time after the notification to complete apps.

It will help you to deal with rejection, if it comes, and also fill your time so you aren’t obsessing. Good luck everyone!

Fwiw I didn’t do a single bit of work on my RD apps until after I had been deferred, and then I was in the middle of finals so I waited until they were over and spent my entire winter break doing them. That being said, I def wish I had started earlier.

Lol.
Somebody had mentioned the difference between ED-with-PLME only and ED-without-PLME. How many of you guys checked without PLME? Did you still get an interview?

I’m curious, what is the effect of rejection on completing apps? Of course, anyone would be devastated, but wouldn’t that spur some individuals to get more RD apps done, and quickly and with emphasis on quality?
However I do agree, the sooner you finish apps, the better, always.

I checked without plme and got an interview

Random announcement: Officially 9 days, 23 hours, 57 minutes, and 30 seconds until ED decisions.

@PLME21maibe from what i’ve seen, neither an interview offer or request for 1st quarter grades really amounts to anything. For the most part, interviews seem to be first come first serve (a very qualified applicant who applied november 1st might not get an interview whereas a lesser qualified applicant who sent in their app in mid-october may be invited for one). there are so many factors that go into these things that there isn’t even any point trying to read into them…
ps: someone seems like a bit of a helicopter parent!

I agree LiveLaughLearn, interviews aren’t for the “strongest” candidates and there are too many factors that determine whether or not you get one to say “They didn’t get one, they don’t want me.” Sometimes it’s not even “first come, first serve.” I submitted the night before the deadline.

For me, I originally was invited to an “interview event” where many kids, maybe 50+, went to a school for their interview slot. I’m so glad I was out of town for that, because I’ve heard awful stories about slotted interviews. There as an option to reply to the email and request a reschedule if you couldn’t make it, and MAYBE you would be able to get a reschedule. I luckily got one and it was personal and lasted awhile. I’m in North Texas.

I just can’t bring myself to do any college applications until I hear back. It’s really self-defeating and highly risky. I know I’ll be bummed out if I get rejected, but right now, with my current attitude where I couldn’t care less if I get into any other college, I just can’t write anything.

So I’m with the party that is doing nothing yet.

Guys we really need to energize this thread up a bit… all the other ED discussions have like 4x more pages than we do!

I concur. We need to get some lively discussion up on this thread

I feel bad for UChicago’s EA Official Results thread though. They’re already on page four and they don’t find out for about three weeks.

Love your name (lovely motto for life)! Agree with everything you said.
PS: it is a Chinook with two-pilots though!

Just for some discussion, do you guys feel like you’re gonna get in? Personally, even though I have fairly competitive stats, I’ve been convincing myself I won’t get in. I do it with everything so if I get rejected, I’ve already settled myself to that proposition when it happens so I’m not as dissapointed, and if I actually get in, I’ll be all the more happy.

There’s not enough info for accepted African American candidates on the Official Results threads for Brown and my parchment.com chances are mediocre, so I have no idea. I really can’t even say. I feel like I’m on the low end of the spectrum to be honest, but eh. I don’t think anyone here (who doesn’t have a legacy or isn’t recruited) would be like “Oh yeah, I’ll probably get in nbd.”
