It seems a bit premature to think that only those who got status changes are receiving packages or that everyone with a status change is receiving the much wanted fat packages. Especially considering the fact that this is the first time status updates have come so soon. At the same time this is probable just my wishful thinking considering I havent gotten the status update :(((

So, has there been a case, in past years, that an applicant got a status change as described on this thread and didn’t receive an early admission packet?

This year’s the first time such a status change happened this early. Alamemom has a “throwback” to recent years about what happened in them, on page 2 of this thread.

^ In at least 2008 and 2009 the status change to “acted on…” was indeed in January and early Feb for scholarship interview candidates, BA/MD candidates (USC no longer offers the BA/MD option), and applicants who were awarded Dean’s scholarships later in February. So yes, the “acted on…” status HAS come at this point in the past indicating a package was on its way.

The “acted on…” status indicated that an acceptance package was on it’s way in the early going. However, in late March the “acted on…” status indicated that a decision was on its way, which meant either an acceptance OR rejection.

Yes, there have been a very few reports of applicants who’s status never changed at all receiving both admission and scholarship interview invitations.

Another early indicator in the past was for International Applicants - they received DHL notifications by email saying a package was on its way from USC. I have seen no such reports this year, so always keep in mind that procedures change year-to-year.

Another note: The status changes have not in the past been instantaneous - we have seen the status changes over several days (and in the more distant past when USC sent acceptances in “waves,” the changes occurred over MONTHS). Again, I tend to be an optimist, but I am hoping next week will bring more status changes :)

Here’s hoping!

I feel that I’m in a unique situation right now. On Saturday, I received the USC Connect App Status change and now when I log in to check my status it shows no change…has this happened to anyone else? I live in Colorado, so not sure if I would have received an admit packet even if the change was accurate anyways…

Seems to be a universal change. Several people have reported this happening. My son’s was changed back to the original this morning, but he received a package this afternoon.

Thanks for the clarification…I was freaking out after I saw the original change and then again for when the status reverted back.

Mine changed too! Is this a bad sign?

@iflyplanes did yours go back to this “received” Status?

Just received the big acceptance packet in the mail down in South Florida. I had the status change as mentioned in the original post, yet the status was quickly removed this morning I believe.

To everyone still waiting, I wish you the best of luck. And I personally do believe that if your status was changed, you have a great chance of being accepted as a scholarship finalist!

Had the status change, got the big packet!! interviewing for trustee, stamps, and mork!!!

@dragonflymusic where do you live?

New Mexico

Congratulations dragonflymusic!!

D just received the BIG FAT YELLOW packet via Priority Mail from USC. She’s not home yet so not sure if she was invited for an interview.

Congratulations! Now you’re playing my waiting game :)

Congrats 2018dad. I am still waiting for the postman.

@18yrcollegemin
Yup. So your son is not home yet? My D texted me before I got the mails that she has an Academic League practice so she’ll be home late. If our kids attend USC there’s a big chance that they’ll meet. D’s intended major is CS-Physics.

@Cavmom
Hang in there. Any moment now.

Yeah, he’s at weightlifting practice. Should only be another half hour
