Well said, pixie

I'm kind of mixed up: super-conservative on sex, and quite liberal on other issues.
I believe that abortion should be illegal except for rape or for medical reasons.
I don't approve of pre-marital sex.
I think we need to restrict the use of guns.
However, I believe that we should provide the equal opportunity for people by providing social welfare.
Also I believe in Miranda rights.

I don't think enlisting in the armed forces is a pre-requisite to having the belief that sometimes war is necessary. I know lots of environmentalists, and they don't sit on tree tops trying to stop loggers. That fact doesn't discredit them.

conservative... woot

repub right here

Here's an idea for anyone who's ever used the term chickenhawk seriously. Why don't we let all our foreign policy decisions that involve the military (like a pre-emptive strike in Iraq for instance) be left to those who have or still do serve in the military. Right, because only cowards who are afraid to serve could believe a war could have positive results. See how many wars that aviods, dumbasses. If only vets and current military members could vote for president, we'd be looking forward to Rumsfeld in '08 and the same in '12. Liberals and the like should try to protect the current state of civilian oversight of the armed forces instead of calling for more self regulation. Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

to imiracle:
if you are against abortion b/c you can see that it's a baby, not a watermelon or a vague primate, then how can you approve of abortion in cases of rape? does rape produce watermelons or vague primates? 'tis true that the mother didn't ask for the child, but a child it is! And who says a child is so evil, anyway? It's like evil being turned into good. And if she is financially unable or too young or just plain doesn't want him/her, there are many other options - but stabbing your own child doen't have to be one of them.
don't believe the person part? check out all the abortion pics on the web. or read the news stories about the mass murder investigations when hundreds of babies were found buried in an abortion "doctors" yard and dumpster. boy did they look like pathetic sheepeople when the backed off and apologized after finding out that it was all kosher because they're mothers had consented to their killings!

I am extremely liberal.

yeah that's fascinating

but what it is truly interesting is that i'm (obviously) NOT EVER EVEN A TINY BIT LIBERAL SO THERE but i love greenday... not u the band

good lord greeny how did you post that much!

what do u mean? How did I post that much?

Is it true that Washington & Lee University deserves the title of "Young Republicans University"? Just something I heard.

I think most people who claim to be conservative on this board probably are somewhat naive.

i think most people who claim to be liberal are arrogent elitist fools
i think most people who claim to be conservative are fools
if you take a position on an issue because its the republican or democrat or liberal or conservative position, then i think you're a fool
if you've thourghly evaluated all the positions and supporting facts for each position before taking a side on an issue, then i do not think you're a fool

I like the idea of big economy, small government. I do not support the way affirmative action is practiced in the United States, and indeed, internationally. I do not think our health care should be in the hands of HMOs. I feel that our nation should be able to defend itself.

However, I support gay marriage. I am strongly opposed to any introduction of intelligent design into the public science curriculum. I support stem cell research. I feel that the right to bring a child into this world is solely in the hands of the mother (ie. pro-choice). I do not feel that our nation should get itself mixed up in issues that are not our business.

So, I'm pretty much a libertarian.

que, I don't think it's wrong to claim to be either conservative or liberal. Just because you are conservative doesn't mean you can't have ANY liberal views. Heck, I'm very conservative, but I really can't stand No Child Left Behind, and I'm really pretty torn on the whole gun issue. Usually, a person agrees with one party more than the other because it fits their personality and beliefs more.

If you're conservative, it probably makes sense not to like No Child Left Behind... that's a law that lets the federal government boss the states around. And I did read somewhere that people generally choose their political party before actually becoming informed about the issues. Same goes for religion. Most people just take what their parents give them, I guess.

Well said jerzak.

i wasn't representing my actual views in that post, i was making a statement about the sweeping generalization in uvajoe's post. however, i probably shouldn't have left my post so open to misinterpretation...
