Is it terribly rude that I forgot to send in decline cards on May 1st? I understand that it's common courtesy, but it completely slipped my mind.

Should I send them out tomorrow? If so, should I send a letter to the schools that didn't send a decline card in the acceptance package?

Absolutely send them it, they are sorting through lots of card and matching with admitted students, and that takes a few days, so send them in so the people can do their jobs and move onto the waitlist

The decline cards don't always work. My D sent some of hers back in early April. She's still getting mail and email from some of those asking her why they haven't heard from her.

At this point, most admissions offices would be happy to hear from you ASAP: many are trying to figure out their wait list figures, and an e-mail, followed by the card if you have it, will help them out (not to mention maybe helping another student hear earlier about coming off the wait list).
