The Dilemma

Hello. I am going to be applying for transfer admissions for fall; 2011. I have a very unfortunate grade on my record that would likely hinder my chance of acceptance. However, I saw a psychologist about the class in question and was diagnosed with a learning difference. Some administrators at my school are going to hold a vote and the grade will likely be changed from to a CR for credit/non-graded. The only issue is that the meeting is not scheduled to take place until after my application deadline.

How do i handle this situation? Do I send my transcript in as is and then send an updated one after the meeting hoping that the admissions people wont even look at the original? Should I send a letter discussing the learning difference and providing documentation with the initial application? Or is there some other way to go about this, which would allow me to avoid letting the admissions people from seeing the original grade?

Any input would be much appreciated.

I think you have to send the grade because your record hasn’t been changed yet and won’t be before the deadline. If you don’t send your transcript, you run the risk of having an incomplete application by the deadline.

I’d say, send your current transcript and address you learning difference in one or both of these ways:

Have your college state in the College Report that they are meeting about voting on your grade; have them give the date of the meeting and perhaps a short explanation.

In the Additional Information section give a brief explanation and attach the documentation from the psychologist.

After the meeting, if your grade has been changed, send the updated transcript.

Thank you Entomom. Anyone else have any thoughts?

I’ll give this one last bump
