The "Easy GE" List

lol i hate that GE category. i don't like life science, much less labs...

phy sci seems to be the most popular way to go. me, i don't want to take that... so i'm taking the honors 70A for my ls lab.

dang i just realized i lost all my lists of classes i was keeping on my old computer... GE options and so forth... boo.

How is E&S Sci 9 with kivelson?? Any opinions on her?

I don't like the life science GEs either - with the exception, perhaps, of the MCD biology types (cancer, AIDs, STIs, etc.).

What's more - I don't care about geography, anthropology, and astrobiology.

I'm pretty much putting off my last 2 GEs until I run across something remotely interesting and hopefully, within Honors Collegium so that I can get as far away as possible as taking Air Pollution (honestly, what a waste of 5 units!).

HC70...
but didn't you take any life science classes in your life as a bio major?

No. I grew tired/bored of it quickly enough and started taking classes on opera and Russian.

the MCDB aids is completely different now (new instructor). the work may not be hard, but the amount of work makes up for it. ive heard great things about hc70 (lots of work too but very interesting)

Tarleton is gone? Or is he still there?

no the person before tarleton is gone. i think tarleton is a she??

HC70 is a great way to take care of a life science lab GE... plus honors credit.

but if you aren't in need of honors credit, consider the workload. we were already having study groups in powell week 1 ;)

it is such an amazing class so far, however! said as i'm starting a writing assignment due tomorrow

Ah and that says nothing about the demographics of people in an Honors Collegium course!

it doesn't.

it just speaks to our work ethics ;)

Someone should sticky this thread.

Work ethic? Or lack thereof. My experiences have been nothing but grade-grubbers, inflated egos, and poorly written papers splattered with polysyllabic irrelevant words that detract from any specific arguments that are probably convoluted enough to make me rip my eyes out.

aka 97% of mme-lin's posts?

Yes, I was hoping you'd detect the irony.

It's probably redundant to call a history GE easy, but my high school history class was harder than History 1A with Rapp. I'm still in it right now, but it's just ridiculously easy. You don't have to go to lecture or really do any textbook reading. Midterm was 5 ID's (that you were given out of a pool of 20 a week in advance) and an essay on a very simple and straightforward topic. Two 3-5 page essays, which are graded VERY leniently. Final looks like it'll be the same format as the midterm.

Great class. I recommend it.

Also, try not to be fooled with Anthro 7 with Manson. Yeah, it's pretty easy, but even still, it's on the typical South Campus curve so only 20-25% get A's, 31% B's, and the rest C's. It's not an "everyone gets an A" class. Luckily, that still doesn't really seem to matter. Got an A on the midterm with minimal studying.

one class says "outside study, 11 hours" ... i checked out other course descriptions and none of them have "outside study" ... gee, and the "11 hr studying" class sounded really interesting: ARCH&UD10 History of Architecture: Baroque with Hart. Any ideas people? Hit or miss?

anthro 7 may not give out all A's, but it's not hard to get the A's it does give. if you can understand that bit of convolutedness lol.
basically the A's go to those who don't slack off completely, and anything less is only earned through slacking or complete lack of interest.
i never went to lecture, crammed the online video lectures before midterm/final, did about 1/3 of my hw, and got an A. as long as you understand the material, you're fine in that class, it's not too complex.

hey, I'm in hist 1A, too! and it's not so bad considering history is one of my worst subjects evar. i'm even enjoying reading the source texts. my $0.02.

so who recommends history 1b? no profs listed, just "staff" ... im thinking that with a large time span as approx. 850 AD to 1750 ... the information we're gonna have to know will be immensely huge!
