It's so difficult for me; like, I'm glad it's the summer since I barely wake up at like 12pm~1pm and sleep at 1am, but during schooldays I have to wake up at 7 and oh god.

I set my cellphone alarm, max volume but I turn it off. Go back to sleep. My mom usually yells like 20 times. I have to splash myself with water 5 times. Still a bit wobbly...and it's like, I have to do stretches, etc...I can't for the love of my life wake up.

So, what are some of your methods of waking up? How do you guys wake up personally every morning?

I'm extremely envious of those that effortlessly get up on first ring as if nothing happened, or those extreme people that get up without an alarm clock as if their body automatically triggers a reaction for them to wake up.

Discuss. Hopefully I get enlightened a bit here.

Alarm over my head (I refuse to use it during the summer since I sleep through it. I'm thinking 11-ish weeks without it should break me out of sleeping through it...maybe.)

An alarm across the room. It has two seperate alarms built in so I usse them both. I'll wake up and turn it completely off.

My phone at max across the room. If it doesn't need to be charged it's in random spots.

I happen to fit into your latter category; without fail, and regardless of when I go to sleep, I will always wake up between 5 and 6.

I recorded my sleeping patterns a bit last year -- a good 29 days of the month, I would wake up at exactly 5:37 ON THE MINUTE! Summer seems to have thrown a wrench into my circadian rhythms (on the scale of a couple of minutes, though, so nothing catastrophic). :(

And adjusting for jet-lag sucks. :(

Edit: To achieve such states of godliness as my own, I would suggest that you keep to a very strict bedtime. Over the course of the school year, I would always (usually) fall asleep somewhere between 9:25 and 9:30.

also. dont put your alarm next to you. you can just snooze it right away. but if you put it across the room and its loud. you'll be forced to get up

I mean, I need an alarm, but I'm not this bad. I do set it about an hour earlier than I actually NEED to get up. Granted, my NEED to get up time leaves me about 20 minutes to get ready/do homework lol. I do have my alarm halfway across the room and it has an annoying beeping sound too. Oh and I find that having a terribly messy room helps me as well because I trip over shoes and books on my floor, thus waking me up :D

god moodrets another thing I'm envious of...

If I can magically wake up between 5 and 6 everyday without effort, I swear to my keyboard I'll donate every single chocolate bar and pokemon game I currently own, provided I can find them. Seriously...moodrets just wondering when do you usually go to bed?

i usually have something to do in the morning
basically, i call some semi-stranger and i promise i will meet with them tomorrow morning, that FORCES me to get up

omg moodrets, that is sooooooooooo strange. lol

i used to use an alarm. and just close it when it rings. and EXACTLY 14 minutes later, i would wake up with ease. somehow, its like automatic snooze.

Ah, I've always been an early bird, and I usually fall asleep around 9:30 or so, although the summers see my in bed as late as 10:30...

Waking up earlier seems a tad counterproductive though, as state curfew (at least I think it's a state statute, I dunno lol) is from 12-5. Otherwise, I might be tempted to get up earlier once I pass that fateful 18 mark or move elsewhere.

I usually have 2 alarms. The first is my cell phone, which is kind of a trancy ringtone, so it actually feels like the song is playing in my dream. It somewhat wakes me up, but I usually turn it off immediately and go through two 3-minute snooze cycles. About 5 minutes later my real alarm clock goes off, which has the most obnoxious alarm-clock sound ever, and I allow myself to press snooze once. The snooze cycle on that clock is 9 minutes. I usually wake up at exactly the same time everyday. What really bugs me is when I wake up naturally about a half hour before I'm supposed to get up. It's impossible to get any good sleep after that and I don't even know how to control it.

Summer definitely messes up my rhythms. I've gone through several different cycles in the last month or so, ranging from a 12am-10am schedule to a 7am - 3pm schedule to just taking several of 1-2 hour naps during the day. It really messed me these last few days now that I have a job and have to actually wake up and leave the house at a set time. I was almost late for my interview... When school starts it usually takes me about a week to get back to some sort of regular pattern.

i love to sleep. during the school year i get up early though. what i do is set my alarm clock early and snooze for 5 more minutes. then i go to the bathroom. sleep there for a minute. go back to my room get changed (shirt, tie, khakis). while i'm changing i sit on my bed and close my eyes. when i'm done getting changed i lay in my bed for 5 minutes. then i get up and i'm refreshed!

There's also the Sonic Bomb Alarm Clock for those that really can't wake up ever. Seriously, it has a bed shaker and will probably wake up your neighbors.

on school days i wake up at 5:45..i take forever to get ready..not because i'm one of those girls that spends hours doing her hair and finding the perfect outfit..i'm just a slow, lazy person lol..my parents used to call me a slug cause i moved so slowly..anyway getting up is the hardest part..but once i've showered i'm fine
