The epic: Waking up in the morning

sonic bomb looks gosu~

I always wake up when I start to brush my teeth.

My mummy is my alarm clock :)
After I wake up, I take a 15min shower (sleeping) then get dressed, make breakfast and pour some coffee, then eat on the bus and sip on my coffee until lunch. That way, I am caffeinated until I get home.

You wake up at 7? Lucky. 1st period STARTS at 7, which means at the very latest I have to wake up at 6:20 (school is 15 minutes away, going from the parking lot to class takes like 10 minutes, etc etc). I've actually worked it out and at 6:35 if I'm not in my car going to school I'm going to be late (I got like 30 tardies last year haha).

I have an alarm clock at full volume across the room from me. I stagger over there, hit the machine, fall into the bathroom and just stand there blankly for about 5 minutes before I have the energy to splash water on my face. After that, I'm fine. That is, assuming I don't just turn off the clock and "rest my eyes" for a bit. The problem with me, is I'm really good at holding conversations while sleeping. My mom used to bang on my door in the mornings and I'd have her convinced I was completely dressed and just finishing up my math homework, when really I hadn't even turned the light on yet.

want a good tip guys. Try using peppermint soap. That will really wake you up.

Haha. My little brother's school starts around the same time as mine. The only way he can be pacified in the morning is if he can wake me up, which my mother gladly promises him (he's 6). Most effective alarm clock ever. ;)

Alex

During school, I used to wake up at 2-3 AM in the morning and then realize that I have 3-4 more hours of sleep. I would wake up completely fine. It's as if I slept an extra 3-4 hours.

On those days that I sleep all the way through, I wake up all groggy. Usually I take a shower and fall right back to sleep until my mom yells at me.

YEAHHH same! Except today I woke up early because my boyfriend made me. Kinda. Like, he was all, "YOU'LL ALWAYS BE TIRED AND NEVER GET ANYTHING DONE IF YOU KEEP WAKING UP AT 1 EVERY DAY." So I was like "FINE I'LL WAKE UP AT 8 TOMORROW." So I did. And he can suck it. Metaphorically.

Umm... anyways... during the school year, I only get up on the first try or two or three tries if I have something to look forward to at school that day. Otherwise, it takes like five tries, usually until my mom starts yelling. XD

Now, the fact that I need my mom's anger to wake up WOULD make me think that I'll be screwed in college. Buttt I had a 9:00 class at Brown for two weeks this summer and I woke up in time to shower and get to class on time every day (and it was like a ten minute walk from my dorm to class!) :) Except one time I woke up at 8:40 and had to go to the library to print something out before going to class... I got there at 9:05 lol but it was like the second-to-last day so the prof didn't really care.

Waking up in the morning is absolute hell for me since I tend to go to sleep around 2 in the morning. I have an iHome alarm which blasts music from my iPod 40 minutes before I have to wake up. I continue to press the snooze button every 10 minutes so that I can slowly bring myself to wake up on time. In case I snooze too many times, the clock in my room has the shrillest alarm which forces me to get up. Sometimes, I unconsciously turn that one off too though....

For anyone that has difficulty waking up, I recommend buying one of those "alarm pillows". I read about it in a magazine...supposedly, the pillow simulates a natural sunrise by lighting up and glowing brighter and brighter as it gets closer to the time you're supposed to wake up, and your body has a much easier time breaking free from sleep.

put different alarm clocks/cell phone in different part of your room, and hide them. make the clocks go off at the same time. so when all those alarms thunder together, you have to find them and turn them off.

i also found vibrating cell phone in my pillow works well. if you put the cell phone deep in the pillow case, you have to spend a minute finding it and shut it off.

^ I like that idea. Thanks! I'll use that one now!

I have to catch the bus at 9:50 (yay!) but I will turn off all 4 alarm clocks in my sleep! So I have missed the bus!

^What time does school start for you?

^
10:30 :)

Wow, I'm jealous now...
I start at 8:00. It's still not bad, but I don't enjoy it.

^What time do you get out for the day?

4:30!

We have like only 6 hours of instructional time! Instead of the average 7-8 a lot of our surrounding schools have.

School days: I set my alarm for 6:15, but don't actually plan to get up until 6:45. It wakes me up right away, and the only reason I stay in bed a half hour is because I like to listen to music before taking a shower.

Summer: My brother's been going to football workouts every day this summer. He wakes me up at 9, I roll out of bed, throw on random clothes, drive him to the school, then come home and take a shower before having to pick him up.

Waking up really isn't hard for me. I need a little bit of help, but once I'm awake, I'm good.

I usually wake up, really wake up and stop being sluggish on my walk to school, or if I caught a ride, in my Latin class.

(I go in early to work on other homework and study. it's quiet and it's in one of my schools portables so I do have to listen to people in the halls. It's really nice.)

If I'm late to school, then well, I'm pretty much asleep for my first and sometimes second classes.

I always fall asleep in my fifth hour, though. Or maybe I just tend to have the teachers with the most soothing voices during that period.

My last class of the day on B days this past year was science and I was close to falling asleep every class. It was horrible. I'd just doze off and then jolt back awake. It was awefully boring though.

(300th post! Yes!)
