The Fence Thread: UCLA+Berkeley

Honestly, there is data from all majors that being .25 off doesn’t mean your out. For example, I just checked and last year a 3.54 got into pre-econ at UCLA which proves anything is possible.

I hope he makes it over the fence, lets be hopeful. I didn’t make this thread to tell people they won’t get in, it’s here to relax people before the big decisions come in.

Best of luck!

@OP thank you for this thread :)

Major: American Lit and Culture (70% acceptance rate from last year, 3.47 average admit GPA)
GPA: 3.51 (one F in statistics brought me down from a 3.79 :[, but i’m redoing that class now and currently have an A)
CC: Santa Monica College
TAP: Nope
ECs: internship at a magazine, internship at a local newspaper (santa monica daily press), volunteer at art museum and soup kitchen, part time job, production assistant at UCLA Film school
Essays: 9/10?
Missing one pre-req :[ Finishing IGETC this semester

In at SD.

Scared ****less and just want this to be over with and hear back!!!

Good luck to all of you!

lol I’m in an interesting situation because I applied to UCB and UCLA as different majors :).

UC GPA: 3.74
Major: UCB - Phil UCLA - Psych
upward trend
essays: 8/10
EC’s: 150 hours comm service.
NO TAP; yes IGETC
prereqs all done for both…but UCB doesn’t have any prereqs that articulate from my CCC to UCB. Thus, none done for UCB. However, I have taken 2 phil courses with A’s in both.

IN: UCSC, UCD, UCSD.

I’m also scared lol and wish you the best as well mshaddal!

^bump

because everyday I bump is one day closer to UCLA acceptance/rejection thread post.

sadly…this is true

@flick–Like I said, best of luck. That would be so great if you got in.

@lintij–Believe it or not, I don’t want to go to UCLA. Berkeley on the other hand would have been great–but the acceptance for Anthro majors is below 20%. My GPA would not have cut it.

I don’t feel like I’ve been left out, I got into my number one choice and I’m happy.

Both UCLA & Berkeley

Major: Economics
GPA: 3.85
TAP: No
EC: average
Prereqs: All my CC offered
IGETC: One art class short
Essays: 11/10 ****ing amazing

Accepted: UCSD, UCI
Rejected: SDSU lol

Will you finish IGETC by the end of spring because I think it’s a must unless you did another gen Ed articulation.

Do you guys know what gpa would be on the fence for UCB L&S, social science in particular?

like anywhere in the 3.75 range to 3.84

that is my guesstimation

but as the berkeley people told me

“You have the chance to ask the best girl at your school out, whether she accepts or declines, at least you asked, no regrets”

but I think that range is pretty fence worthy

i know we can never predict 100% who Berkeley will take for sure…just wondering if i would be a borderline according to the past year stats… hehe

anyway, Berkeley admissions rep told me that social science is one of the most competitive in the L&S…makes me kinda nervous!!

Waiting for another 17 days is too long for meee

ya econ, poli sci, pysch, ect are very competitive, but they always select gpa from across the board…as in 3.6 up.

Just what ive noticed.

I feel like i shouldnt have been involved in the fight between those competitive majors…
I am a linguistics major lol…

Do you guys know what the ave. Admit gpa for media studies in berkeley? All i know is that it’s 3.93 (communication studies) in UCLA. How about for Cal?

[University of California: StatFinder](http://statfinder.ucop.edu/statfinder/default.aspx)

I am on the fence… chance anyone!!!

College: FC
GPA: 3.4 (upward trends)
Major: Asian American Studies
EC: a lot of ec… founder of clubs… work 40 hr/week 200+ hr community service… marketing director @ a well-known company
IGETC complete…

i am sooo scaredd…

If not for your major, Eager, I’d say not good, but AFAIK the various " X studies" have high admit rates, so maybe 50/50?

50/50 humm thanksss!!! i am really anxious though…

well I chose my major because I wish to go to ASIA after graduate :)

@ eager

I’d say 65-70% because the GPA acceptance for those kind of majors, like Hadrian said, is usually lower than other majors in general. I am bumping the 50/50 to 65-75% because you have good ECs…All the Best…wanna chance me??

Current School: UC Irvine

Prereqs: All Done for both schools.

@BayAreaTransfer

When you say you’ve completed all the prereqs, are you including the recommended courses (the two semesters of calculus). Also, how many semesters of foreign language will you have completed?

Major: Economics (UCLA) Political Economy (CAL)
GPA: 3.73
TAP: No
EC: average
Prereqs: All, required and recommended done by spring
IGETC: Done, (AA in Econ also)

chance?
