is sat ii score really important to the admission process?

yes, it is

Pomona, along with some other selective colleges, require at least two SAT Subjects along with the SAT (If you take the ACT, many of them waive the SAT 2 requirement, but some still require them nonetheless). Now, while that rule certainly makes the SAT subjects essential towards having a complete application, it does not necessarily say how important the SAT two actually is. I know plenty of kids who did not do ‘stellar’ on their SAT II’s who were accepted into ivy and other selective privates, while many with scores of 800 and high 700s who were rejected. The take home message? The college process is very holistic, and at the end of the day, your SAT 2’s are probably not gonna make or break your app.
