Thanks, bluebox

Yeah, illness! Twisted fate! :P

Don’t do that. If you get caught (if the university decides to do a background check), YOU’RE SCREWED.

W TF is wrong with these journalists. The name of the building is “Arma”, not Aaram Court :P

Does it?
3.14 charachters

What kind of ‘background’ check?

You also need a fake email ID. Oh wait, did I say one? You would need three fake email ID’s. You’re setting yourself up for trouble. Just send the ones legally available by post even if they’re substandard.
@compscifan- They can definitely verify every single piece of information you have provided by calling your school and asking you to provide substantial proof for your accomplishments. EC’s that are easy to fake come under this bracket.
Apart from that, the ‘big’ schools like the Ivies and other ‘reach’ schools are very easily able to make out if the applicant is faking anything.

^yeah and even if they find out say in middle of your sophomore year they may still revoke your admission, and if found out after you complete your education they can still revoke the degree. Moreover will it be worth the humiliation? If that had been my case i would have simply skipped it.

You don’t necessarily need three fake email ID’s. You can give your teachers legit ID and ask them to co-operate. My own teachers and principal are gonna submit everything online.

I mentioned creating fake ID’s as a last resort; if teachers don’t co-operate and the like.

What if someone fakes his recos, and then also gives a phone number that is his and not the school’s?? All calls reach him, not a school official. (Bit of a stretch…:p)

Care to elaborate with some examples?? Which EC’s?? How exactly do they know if someone is faking??

Well yes all that can happen but you do know that if you’re CAUGHT, you are BARRED entry from the USA and all your US Visas will be cancelled?

Whatever bro, if you wanna fake it then go ahead. I have only one life and besides, my teachers cooperated fully so it’s cool :P

I grow weary of this discussion. Plus you’re making me suspicious.

Just know this, if someone is caught faking it, then they shall never be allowed to enter the States during their lifetime.

To whoever brought up the issue first-TALK to the Uni rep in your district or write to their student questions email. Try not too sound too whiny or anything and explain your situation in a clear, rational manner. And for Christ’s sake DON’T fake it. Don’t even think about faking it. I think Ani and Pixie have pretty much filled you in on the dire consequences of you doing so.

I’ve decided I have 0 chance at any HYPSM school. I’m aiming for NYU now.

Why so bubbles?

=)). I was wondering when someone would say something like this.

Yes I know.

But I was getting a bit worried, since online submission seems more likely to attract attention; my teachers have clearly said while they will co-operate in writing recommendations, they stated that don’t want anybody (meaning universities) calling them or pestering them with emails about anything.

jbubbles, you’re not even applying to Harvard?

Of course I’ll apply but I’m not expecting on getting in.
I’ll go to NYU, thrive there, and get into Harvard Med. ;)

Why the sudden U turn though? Zero chances is a bit extreme don’t you think?
NYU’s great too though!

Yeah it is! :D

I think I’ll thrive there and New York is amazing.

Doesn’t NYU mean you have to live with your parents since it doesn’t have a campus? Weren’t you wanting to live away bubbles?

I told my parents I’m going to dorm if I stay in New York.

Hell nawzz I ain’t staying with them for another 4 years. It’s fine, I can still have my parents do my laundry and stuff.

I <3 NYU.
