The Indian Thread #20 (a)

Our state is worse. A week to the boards and so tensed about admissions. Damn.

^Yea, that sucks. I’ll stop complaining now. :P

Haha half way through sophomore year? I think I might declare my major sometime during freshman year so as to make the most out of the opportunities in that direction. I don’t want to be a ‘floater’ if you know what I mean :)

Of course! That’s when most people are required to declare their majors  Gahhh, why am I so utterly confused? Well, it’s great that you’ve decided already. Now you must spread some of the magic dust so that I can also steady my mind :P

And what’s a floater? o.O

Its alright to be confused. Its better to be confused than to be dead certain and grossly misinformed at that.

^^Agreed!
@Bist- Seriously!! I have to push myself to study inch by inch and minute by minute :frowning: Boredom at it’s worst  How’s your prep going?

@Everyone in general- I haven’t decided on my major either. Probably Comparative Lit/Psychology/English…or something entirely different :stuck_out_tongue: Coming from a Science background, I can only decide which ‘Arts’ subject I love best after sampling all the courses, lol.

^Glad to see I’m not alone! :)

^^
Are you a liberal arts applicant too? Or are you going for the core sciences?

*I know that feeling  *

I applied to two SEAS’, one research school and 3 specific courses, so if I choose to attend school there, I’ll have no choice but to pursue the sciences. Though i must say, the idea of liberal arts fascinates me.

Also, when I read about Financial Engineering at Columbia, I was awestruck, though that could be because of my lack of familiarity with the subject. Anyone else find Financial Engineering interesting? :)

^^
It fascinates me too! it’s like learning a big chunk of everything and then digging deeper into one of those things  exciting
Okay, I had never heard of that until now. Have to admit it sounds pretty interesting, although I have no clue (beyond the obvious) what it’s all about eithet ;)

@IRBCobalt - Well, my situation’s the same. I haven’t done anything significant. Will have to resort to late night studying before the exams as I always do, it seems :D

@Tizil - Yeah, financial engineering tempts me too. Firstly, because I have know idea what it is about and secondly, I have heard it gets you lot of $$$. :D

Same here! A week from boards and pi day bang in the middle

hi guys… anyone here got into Union College (NY) ?

@IRBCobalt: Yes, I am. Liberal arts is great, especially for confused people like me  I applied to one liberal arts school and one science-oriented school in case I change my mind any time soon. :stuck_out_tongue:
@Tizil7: Cool. Never knew such a subject existed! Sounds interesting, though like Cobalt, I don’t know much about it.
@Arsalh: Nope, didn’t apply!

Any of you interested in Chemical and Physical Biology (CPB)? How about International Relations? And what language do you want to study in college? And extracurriculars?

…oops. asked a lot of questions, haha :P

^lets see…
Nope, not too interested in chemical and physical biology…what is it though…physics chem and bio all rolled into one?? I think Id rather know stuff about it than study it, kind of like how I love reading about astronomy and quantum physics but Id rather not study them in college…

International relations? Yes, thinking about it as a joint study with economics…

Id like to learn Spanish at college…and maybe, just maybe, Mandarin :)

As for ECs, ive heard a lot about these programs where college students volunteer to teach kids in elementary schools around the area…id like something like that, and maybe a theatre/film/writing society or trying a new sport

^^Okay, gonna reply to all the questions later, but I had to respond to Shrey’s post- I love reading about astronomy and quantum physics too! It gets more interesting if it’s out of school stuff xD I actually got a copy of The Elegant Universe to get over my physics phobia in 10th, and it took off from there   Love that book!
Okay, this was a bit random :)

Haha, you should read A Brief History of Time too, if you havent already!

ooh and speaking of the universe, check this out: [The Scale of the Universe 2](The Scale of the Universe 2)
pretty cool, huh?

Count me in in the astronomy and quantum physics lovers’ society :D

Has anyone watched “What the bleep do we know down the rabbit hole?”?

 It has much more stuff than the original Sacle of the Universe 1. Anyways, it’s amazing :D

Haha no Bist, but it sounds like a funny thing to watch :p

a 17er but still, I too love space time and therory of relativity in physics.
A brief history of time is a great book!! must read.

on a side note, anyone taking aeronautical engineering as a major??
