^^Me too
Haha, no offence to all the guys, but I know i’m in for this big time games are stupid! how many times can you play the same thing and not get bored? Beats me.

I haven’t started the app essays or anything yet. Will start next weekend. But i think it’ll be fun! the essay topics might be weird, but they will be FUN to write xD
I have no clue about the process, so i need to ask- each college has a LIST of essays you need to write? Just how many is it per coll on average? And is there anything else i need know to not be shocked when i start? :P

@cobalt: mods and open world, you never get bored. and about the essays: adcoms will psychoanalyse you based on the essay which most probably would have been written in ‘OMG deadline’ haste

haha you guys are so cute and thanks karan (im assuming that’s your name? forgive me if it’s not!). my social life is beyond what it’s supposed to be. i deleted my facebook last week because it was WAYYY TOO DISTACTING! for me i feel kinda isolated from the rest of society after i deleted it (lawls, acutally, it wasnt even a real facebook. my name was “Idontactually Haveaname” sooo… you know what that would be like. people added me just to find out who i was! haha. just 'cause i live in the states doesnt mean i don’t have super strict indian parents!) but anyways, yeah. my social life needs to be more LIMITED. not the other way around :D

so what are you people’s SAT scores like at this point in time?

^^Haha! YOU are cute. Yes, i see what you mean. I have a facebook tab open like RIGHT now. Well, i got a 710 CR, 780 CR, 650 M, which i’m not at all happy about but can’t do anything about. Esp since WR scores aren’t considered by many colleges.

And i have one question (for everyone)- i bought the Kaplan book for Lit, and found an online pdf too, but i don’t think they are very comprehensive. Can anyone suggest a site or link where i can find prac tests and the theory? (It’s not there at SparkNotes).

oooh oooh ooh :o ^SOMEBODY’S TOO PROUD of him(her?)self haha

but anywayss, hmm hmm. PRACTICE SAT tests? have you tried Princeton Review? Or Baron (there might be two r’s? im too lazy to turn around OTL HAHA) you should subscribe to the college board’s SAT Question of the Day too their website has a bunch of bs that’s actually useful! well it’s not bs then… but you get what i mean :D

darn that carrot thing didnt work. i was referring to the “Makes you feel like a God. Which I’m anyway” statement. and lawls yeah, i was wondering that too. i didn’t see a prinki anywhere either.

Well here is a general overview of most Tech/Engg Institutes (since I know only about them)

The most important of any essay you will soon write is the Common App Long Essay (480<x<550). Almost everyone I know writes more than 500 words. My essay is itself 524 words long and on a side note, I am very proud of it :)

The other essays stem from the Supplement forms of the colleges. Most are short essays (300 characters to 1500 characters) that are somewhat important in the sense that they provide the college with a general overview of your personality (favorite books, favorite theatricals, lectures, favorite subject, why ____ college?, etc) I think that most colleges put in these short answers just to see that no red flags are raised. For example, no college would admit someone whose favorite book is ‘Mein Kampf’ for any reason other than perhaps literary technique.

The second most important type of essay (no, I am not listing these essays in order of importance :P) is perhaps the “Why do you want to study this subject at this college?” And I cannot tell you outright what the correct answer for this one is, but I can tell you what the wrong answers are:

The rest are just biographical boxes which bulk up your admissions file :P

okay SO for IRBCobalt: I have a question. Did you mean 710 CR, 780 W, 650 M? cause i’m slightly confused. how can you have two CR scores? and NO WAY! all colleges care about all three parts! well maybe one part more than the other based on what field you’re going into, but they look at all three :o

and darkanddown: that’s not bad! don’t put yourself down! yes, you’ll have to bump it up for ivy league cause you’re competing against Americans with a 2400 and other random junk, but you can do it. it’s all about PRACTICE PRACTICE AND PRACTICE. it seems to be like your math can easily be an 800 with some effort and for writing, maybe its the vocab?

@tennischicaxo: that most certainly is my name.about the word, since i have seen a lot of people use adcom for college admission officers it just came down as habit. now that i think about it,it really doesn’t make sense. they should really be called cados lol. And Sat 2210 770M 760CR 680W @cobalt: except the practice questions on cb website,i haven’t found anything reliable yet. Also can you send me the pdf of the kaplan book. It would be a great help

SAT Score: I’ll tell you in November ;)

Fourth girl. Yep. Check out the earlier pages of thread D&D and Tennis.

I am being plagued with writer’s block right now. I can’t come up with a suitable 1000 character response to the common app short essay :(

EDIT: ADcoms are short for Admissions Committees
You will also find the follow on College Confidential:
CC = College Confidential / Columbia College

and iknowiknow of course you are the supreme GOD! i bow down to you, darkand down. all hail the supreme ruler of the universe. and and btw, im not a man. kthanks bro.

@darkdown :veyron is ugly, heavy, froggy but still it is holy f**king fast and i hate koenigsegg. if you want madness pagani has better options.
offtopic: does anyone watch top gear and if yes,do you have any idea about s18 release date?

darkanddown: hahah well im sorry for trying to help? and hmm. random junk is defined as extracurricular activities and all that. tennis, science fairs, tech fairs. america is filled with one competition after another. and i’ll bet ya that the kids that apply to harvard and the other ivy leagues aced all of em. idk, it’s just a thought. you shooting for harvard and princeton?
