Any of you delhites?

Nice to meet you DreamLord ;)

And you too Tizil :)

I’m BACK. And more discouraged then ever. The chem sums **** me off.
Can you get in even with 650-700 Sub SAT scores, into good colls? :O

Oh. I didnt abuse, but these *s make it seem like i did. How interesting :O

The best alternative I can imagine is that they shut you off. Wait. Don’t be discouraged. Depends on from where you are practicing. The most accurate tests are PR followed by Barrons. I haven’t seen many people talking about Sparknotes tests as an accurate indicator of the real thing.

I got a mere 740 if that makes you feel better :/

Lol, im doing it from the Kaplan books and they are supp to be easy. I got 650 i left 8 though
Thanks :)

So … who here has already applied to any college early?

Today was the deadline for those who don’t know :P

@tizil7
I didn’t have time to complete essays and stuff so I am not. How about you?

D&D-paperback.
@Tizil- nopes ED is too risky.

Next weekend is when the app process will start for me I think itll be fun :)

Chalo im going. Bbye for now and gn everyone! :)

Is EA risky?

Veethiv, I think what she was trying to say by calling EA risky is that it would be difficult for us to complete the whole application in such a short amount of time and it might not be wise to send in a half-baked application to one’s dream school :P

And No Karan, didn’t apply EA/ED even though many of my friends have. But oh well, they already had their sights on US colleges since they were suckling babies.

Night Cobalt!

EA for most of the LA colleges is around 1st Jan… Risky as in terms of Financial aid options.

hey guys! i am posting here after aeons probably!
But plz help meee!

I took the SAT in January this year and scored as follows -

Math - 740
CR - 590
Writing - 680
Total = 2010

I took the SAT again in October and scored -

Math - 730
CR - 680
Writing - 720
Total = 2130

Superscoring would get it to 2140.
I am aiming for the ivies, and from what I have read in the forums, 2140 is a bad score for the ivies (HYPS). I can get an 800 in Math but I think I can’t raise my scores in CR or writing (+/- 20) in the next attempt if I give one. What do you guys recommend? Is increasing the score from 2140 to 2200 worth an attempt? I dont really want to miss out because of my poor SAT score :(

Also, can I cover up for my average score in math by scoring an 800 in Math II SAT Subject Test? Also, I have a 113 TOEFL. Would that help me from not taking the SAT again? I think think taking the SAT three times would hurt my application. Please advise!

@iamthebist- I got a 2140 too (650 M,710CR, 780 WR) and i guess with strong sub SAT scores, good ECs, great high school grades and a VERY good set of app essays, Ivy colls will accept you. Because SAT scores are only one thing; colls look at every aspect of your application, and the rest of it should be strong enough for them to overlook your scores.

@Tizil- haha, i’m back again. For like 2 mins; i cant resist checking the forum :P

WHEW got a 710 on my first Sparknotes test (i know its not great, but im relieved). I somehow think it was way easier than the Kaplan one :O

@IRBCobalt - thanks
are you writing the SAT again btw?

Nopes im not. I am taking the Sub SATs in chem and eng lit this saturday though. What about you?

Btw, did you know MIT accepts TOEFL instead of the SAT? Also, if you send them your TOEFL score and the SAT score, MIT will prefer your TOEFL score. Just to tell that TOEFL is not to be underestimated.

I am taking Maths level 2 and physics. I am also preparing for chemistry though
will ask for chem if i think i’m well prepared. I want 800s in all lol

Yep. Both PD and D&D like some recreational trolling ;)

By the way, iamthebist, D&D, Cobalt, Veethiv, Karan, I am sure all of you used the Blue CB book to prepare for the SAT Subject Test. I just want to know if the practice test scores matched what you got in the real thing.

Thanks :)
