The Indian Thread #20

@Tizil7 : Your essay sounds great.
And I use the graphing function only for 2 or 3 questions. The book suggests it for almost 50% of the questions. That’s plain dumb.
And I haven’t written any essays yet. Just drafts. :(

Thanks DL and Karan :D

Don’t worry Karan, there’s a lot of time. Two full months

Can’t believe I’m on CC again haha!

To whoever applied EA to Princeton… I’m jealous of you. :stuck_out_tongue:
At another Ivy, but would trade it in a second to be a Tiger! :)

Anyways - good luck, 16’ers!!!

-PD.

OMG  . i couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw that PD posted again. HAHA. How’s Stanford, if I remember correctly?

I am applying RD to Princeton, so are still equally jealous? :p

Thanks :D

^ you can blame procrastination for that :p

nope. at Columbia. a proud lion (…being dismembered by the Core).

and yes, still jealous ;)

good luck for the apps!! :)

WOW. (you can ignore my expressions of awe)

I am applying to SEAS. Do you Columbians gang up against the poor SEAS kids? Or do Barnard girls receive the greater share of hate? :D

Thank You once again :)

seas is cool… most engineers stick to themselves, because they have they have a lot of science and math classes in their core and take a lot of the classes with other engineers… i actually am only good friends with a couple of ppl in seas… both very cool ppl… i also get the vibe from some that they wanted to be in cc, and don’t really like engineering… but no one’s actually said that out loud yet, so that’s just me presuming stuff :stuck_out_tongue:

and yeah, no one likes barnard lol… but, seriously, if you want to hook up and are a columbia guy… well, because of the gender-ratio imbalance, let’s just say you’ll be getting lucky A LOT :p

Best of luck. I will pray for you too.

^^like…

Hahaha  That’s attractive xD

And that thing you are saying about the SEAS kids want to be in CC? I can understand that maybe because I was thinking the same thing. SEAS has an acceptance rate of ~17% but paradoxically, it raises the average SAT 25-75 of CC. Maybe if I get 2300+ in my nov. retest, I’ll apply to CC because of it’s awesome core rather than SEAS.

So, are you here to stay? :D

@Tizil- my CGPA was 10.00. Yea, thanks  What ‘Joe Bloggs’? :open_mouth:
@Karan- chill!! I have only written the Common App essay, too. Kaafi time hai. If we start even only next week, we’ll still be done :)

Thank you! I love the feeling taht someone prays for me
However, I am totally atheistic, but I envy the sense of religion that indians have. I wonder how is it possible to be intelligent, educated and still a believer in such an irrational concept as god ?

I was reading through this thread when I saw the post that says MIT considers SAT CR and TOEFL interchangeable. Is this true? Because TOEFL is a joke :P. I got 120 and I showed up to the exam without any preparation. I thought it was simply a test to check whether or not you knnew English.

yes it is true. you should ask the question on the MIT forum, because there are admin officers who actually answer this type of questions.

@veethiv: you might be right about agnostics. Pretending to be atheist is maybe slightly arrogant

PrincetonDreams - How did you end up going to Columbia instead of Stanford?

Reading for the SAT ;)

@Tizil: haha good one. I should do the same :P

Nice to see you back on CC, mysticgohan! It’s amazing how both you and PD made a come back on the same day. Did you know that he’s at Columbia College now, instead of Standford? I wish we could get back a few '15ers on a much more frequent basis for some invaluable advice :)

@Tizil7: mysticgohan was the one who advised me to take Columbia over Oxford at the last minute way back in June!! :stuck_out_tongue:

@texaspg: Turns out for some schools, one can’t withdraw their app through e-mail… it HAS to be done through the application system or it doesn’t count (and being the lazy person that I am, I never did that)… :stuck_out_tongue: Columbia, Cornell and CMC were thus ‘nice’ enough to give me a ‘second chance’… with Columbia being the nicest  That’s all… :)

And yes, i would love to help out and give all the advice you guys need!! Feel free to ask anything and everything!! :)

Indeed PD and nice to see you took that piece of advice. Hope Columbia’s been treating you well despite the woeful weather NYC has seen lately  Pasadena on the other hand, is sunny everyday ;)

^ just ONE day of snow (and constant rain, but I’m used to it)… you west-coasters don’t know what actual seasons feel like :stuck_out_tongue:

not gonna lie though, the people i added while in the stanford group are still walking around in t-shirts and shorts… so yes, slightly envious… :(

and yes, it’s been great… absolutely love it here! i just wish i could do better in my classes… i swear i’ve been so lazy, i’ve given up attendance marks!! those are supposed to be a gift almost… ugh :(
