karan89, I have people in my Math class who can barely speak a word of English - yet they're at MIT. Maybe if they had friends like you they'd be back home learning syntax.

wow, so you can actually know if a person knows english or not after looking at a couple of posts, that's pretty impressive....(if you didn't catch the sarcasm, i am ridiculing you....just to be sure!)

dude, you know it as well as everyone else...the U.S. isn't full of grammar nazis! as long as you are making an effort, all's good. Not trying to take anything away from the importance of languages, knowing good english is important, but one need not be reprimanded (at least not in that tone) everytime, he/she makes a mistake.

Sadly, its not upto you to decide that...the adcoms know better

Anyways, to everyone applying for the class of '11,
good luck and peace out

and yeah, it is:
mai pariksha dey raha hoon
and not,
mai pariksha kar raha hoon (that makes no sense, unless you are 'doing' the exam, a tough thing to do, since its an inanimate object!)

Here you are,you can judge a person how doesnt even know a language properly..

well I would sugest that its you how needs some basics..(I dont know how you distinguish between DOING and GIVING)just dont bother if you dont have proper reason..as I have already told ya 'only if you are good enough!'..and for your information...most of the people dont consider a difference between GIVING a test and TAKING a test,I can say that 'coz I have sent the same written thing to many universities(in US) and 90% of them were not able to distinguish that (Amazing to you?!)(This was a part of my extra-activity!)..You see its very easy to point error but hard to handle it....Have a Nice Day..

Karan89:As for you,you must control yourself,as I said'Its easy to point out',even I could point many mistakes you have made in your writtings..but it will do..What I want to tell you is that be cool, otherwise you won't get any job(as the interview you upside-down,so just beware!)...(for your reference GIVING means DENA and DOING means karna and TAKING means lena!)..

Anyway,to the main topic, who's GIVING..oops..TAKING the SAT on DEC.2 in NEW DELHI at American Ambassy School?

Hey Abhishiv is TAKING ACT(including written) today!

Also, its not your language that matters, its your personality that counts...

you wish, dork.

Well,I would say that some people never learn, either they are crazy or the have some serious problem with thier head..

Anyway, how are Duke,Dartmouth and Brown for engineering?

good. you wont fit in at duke or dartmouth at all though.

Well, that would be my problem, not yours...

Take a chill man..cant you simply relax out yourself,seriously..

So,are you in US karan89?

i dont think you understand, im trying to explain to you that YOU would not fit into duke or dartmouth, regardless of how good they are at engineering.

the vast majority of people that go there are (for dartmouth) WASPs from elite prep schools, or (for duke) their southern equivelent. besides for feeling completely out of sorts there as an indian, you are unlikely to have fun or ever really enjoy yourself.

and once again, learn english before applying to the US. "relax yourself"? WTH?

and no im not in the US.

Well,as for your advice,I already have an 8.0 band score in IELTS which I think they say is good enough?!(I dont know what you consider as good)..

what is an 8.0 band score in IELTS?

im sure if your coming from india, academically you could get into those colleges, but you wuld not like being the only brown face you see.

Well, check the web site: www.ielts.org and you will know..
Anyway, were are you curently studyin'/plan to study?
If you are abroad, have you got any scholarship?
Howz Australia for engineering?I have heard that UNSW is very well known for its Engineering..

im in hong kong, plannin to apply to the US (early decision to emory).

Thats nice..Which course and level?

Karan, you sound like a complete retard.. I see where you're coming from, but there are thousands of indians in US colleges who don't speak flawless English, yet speak it well enough to give their SAT's/TOEFL, and get into college.. Also, I wouldn't really comment on other people not fitting in at college - your social skills seem pretty fu(ked up..

Isaac - about your question on Brown engineering, the departement is excellent, and Brown has recently pumped a lot of money into it (new buildings, new faculty, better resources). A lot of the names are really well known and respected in their fields. I dont really know about Dartmouth or Duke, so I can't comment there..

I am an Indian who moved to a US and go to a prep school.. Have had no problem making friends at my school so dont think isaac will have any probs socializing with the "preppies" at darthmouth either..
