Just curious, what's a good score in CBSE(10/11/12) get into a ivy. I know that Essay's, ECs matter more but still...

Yeah, thats the next question which I was gonna ask..Which Abhishiv has just asked..

abhishiv I dont think a U on the practical should mean an overall fail grade. Look into past papers marking schemes and paper weights to get a better idea..

Seconded for ISC/ICSE, I suppose once you pass a certain level, it becomes more of SATs, ECs and Essay.

It mentions nothing about calculating cumulative grades, i mailed CIE yesterday, they directed me to my Examination Officer who's completely blank about this topic. I will then wait & watch.

Almost every TiT'er who got accepted into an ivy or other great schools had 90+. It makes me think that it's waste of time and money if you aren't a 90+ material.

I'd assume 85% and above

the very fact that you live in bombay speaks for itself when concerning your financial status.

The ambanis live in bombay, the tatas live in bombay, the birlas live in bombay (I could go on).. Whats your point? Bombay is pretty much the financial capital of the country.. I really dont know where you're getting your facts from..

Also, I did the IB (International Baccalaureate, pretty similar to the A levels), not the hsc.. Even though I dont know how that makes a difference because I have friends who did the hsc, didnt even attend college (70% or something like that in their boards), and are at top colleges now.. Like adides said, get your facts right..

after carefully evaluating what you have said, i have one thing to say... cry more?

Will it be OK for Ivies,if I have 81% in 10th and 12th too?????(Hey,I maintained the marks...!!)

what do you have for ECs?

isaac: I hope it will be OK. I'm in the same boat. :)

Lakshya M:Well, thats good, what do you have in EC's?
My EC's are not at all nice....As you know livin in a state like RAJ..IIT couching fever..I was also caught by that...Have you given SAT?

In my opinion, 81% is low for Ivy Standards. Write great essays....

Originality clearly isnt one of your strong points..

Also, theres no cut off for the ivys.. Its pointless to ask whether x% is good enough or not.. Its the total package that counts..

Write great essays

ghahahha read how he writes.

That is true to a certain extent. However, unless the student has a very unique talent, I don't think adcom's would compromise so much on grades...

Anyhow, work hard on your essays since there's nothing you can do about marks..

If X has 70% with No ECs nothing could help him; not even essays.

I don't mean to brag, but I have tons of ECs. Mainly regional, national and International competitions. I have a pretty decent SAT score(2200). I was wondering whether percentages in the regions of 85%(CBSE) were good enough?

@Karan89 : Keep this up and I will report you. Casual banter is fine, but all you do on this thread is taunt and insult. If you have nothing helpful to say, don't say anything.
