The students who will thrive at Stanford are those who are genuinely excited about learning, not necessarily those who take every single AP or Honors or Accelerated class just because its name has that distinction. Our hope is that students will be able to spend more time discovering their passions instead of stressing out about the college admission process, how many AP tests they are taking, or what extracurricular activities may appear most impressive.

SPOILER WARNING

It SAYS:
Lower Secondary and Senior Secondary Examinations Is promotion within your educational system based upon standard examinations* given at the end of lower and/or senior secondary school by a state or national examinations board?

If Yes
Please enclose an official copy of this student’s lower secondary examination results.
If the student has already taken senior secondary leaving exams, please include an official copy of the results.
If this applicant’s senior secondary leaving exam results are not yet available, please indicate predicted results in the chart below.

If No
Please enclose an official transcript of this student’s academic record for the final three years of secondary school, including courses taken and marks/grades in those courses.

anybody wants to say something?

i am surprised at how much time and mindless energy you people are wasting on the transcript issue..

well my only last advice on the issue.. email the adcomms .. believe me its much more efficient and fast and reliable and accurate..

And well ofcourse you will have solid concrete answers from round the list of universities ( yes , each univ has its own set of idiosyncrasies and crazy admission rules...)

SM

^ good advice.

lol.... i hope that questions regarding transcript are clear now...

does anyone here know how much FEDEX cost? or how much time do they take to deliver?

If your schools have been sending students to US universities. Trust their method. Don't over-ride(spelling?) your schools.

FEDEX costs vary depending on whether you have a subscription, membership, etc. They also depend on the destination and distance. I haven't sent anything through FEDEX yet so I don't know the exact cost. If I am not mistaken k_twin sent his EA packet to stanford through FEDEX. Maybe he can enlighten us.

there is an entry in the school report form of common app "students course selection is ..... hardest .... moderate ....etc". does this apply to indian students? what are you putting against this question?

and regarding FEDEX issue, UPS costs the same (may be a lil less) and their service is much better. so go for UPS ! and btw as per my knowledge there are no students discounts in FEDEX or UPS. however DHL gives 50% disc.

FEDEX for me was around AED 140 (1 AED ~ 12 Rs).

DHL costs 900 rs around per application and they have a specialized service for these.. its good if you want to use it .. and comparatively cheaper than others as you can see..

ofcourse its totally reliable and i don't see much difference between dhl , fdex and ups anyways..

SM

thanks smartmind for clarifying this stuff....

A question - Do we have to use the same envelop for recs and school report?

yesterday I recieved a viewbook for one of the college and they have enclosed only two envelops; one for Comm app and supps, and the other I guess for recs and school report

any inputs?

Well this is what I did:

School report with transcript in one sealed envelope (school seal's necessary)
2 Teacher recs, 2 envelopes. (sealed)
Application online
Financial Aid application (Envelope)

I'd also advise that you send attested copies of all school related documents, keep the originals with you just in case something gets lost in delivery.

Hi......
slimshady:I dont think that applies to Indian students.....coz evryone takes the same courseload....
Again,If u hav taken some extra subject/course then it might be worth mentionin.....
Wat I m doin is...
evry school related things in one(1) envelop seald..
rest is either online or to be sent separately.......

About the course thing, my school puts "most demanding". Which is true if you compare with the students taking commerce and arts.

No offense dude, but it's very unfair of you to say that Course load of those taking Arts/Commerce is easier than that of Science students.
That section talks about difficulty of the levels of subjects taken, i.e. AP Physics B v/s AP Physics C.
Anyways i doubt that Adcoms look at that section if you aren't in the US system.

my school does much the same as Lakshya's.

I would prefer to say that the CBSE courseload is very demanding whichever subject that you maybe studying in school...........so if i were the principal/counselor i would not bias against a student and put a less rigorous courseload just because he wanted to become a commerce/arts graduate rather than a science graduate.

It all depends on one's perspective on the issue.
