Well, I just got contacted for an interview and it's going to be next week. I just wanted to make a thread for everyone to share stories/tips specifically about their Yale interviews. Post away!

Good luck!! When did you submit your application? I submitted mine on the 28th and haven’t been contacted for an interview or got my Eli Whitney account yet…

Wow that was very fast

Also curious about when you sent in your app because it’s been quite a while since I submitted mine and still no word about an interview.

Then again, maybe there aren’t any interviewing alumni in my area, which is very possible.

^
Well, you can’t expect many alumni to be from On a Mitten.

^ Hey, you never know. Mittens are very fuzzy and warm to live on. Prime living conditions.

^
True, true…

@Spazzy,

I know you don’t want to hear this, but you’re going to have a hard time being admitted to Yale. They get TONS of applicants from the On a Mitten area, more so than even New York and New Jersey. All I’m saying is that area is known for cut-throat competition.

Really? Where did you get this information? I guess I’m a little surprised at that because my region of the state is pretty low key. Now, if you went over to, like, the eastern side of the state, I guess that makes more sense…

But it’s not like I can do anything about that. And I like to think that I have as much of a chance as the next person.

@saturnne and Spazzy, I submitted my supplement/payment on the 20th and the Common App on the 26th.

I live in an area of NY that’s about 30 minutes from the city so I probably have no scarcity of interviewers. Good luck to you guys!

I submitted the whole application on 24th, but still haven’t heard anything from Yale.
@sd6, did you get a phone call/email/mail? Was that sent by Yale admission office or Yale Alumni Committe? What about Eli Account? Have you received that yet?

I got an e-mail from an alum. He didn’t use his alum e-mail, but he used his work e-mail which was from a very well known engineering company, so I’m pretty sure it’s legit. I’m sure you guys will get it soon; I guess I just got lucky (not really, considering I’m so nervous =P).

I didn’t get my Eli account yet, but I heard that comes like 2-3 weeks after the app is sent in, so I’m not worried.

at my school last year, there were five applicants to yale, yet only two received interviews from a regional rep. the interviewer came to our campus and conducted the interviews back-to-back during school hours. the two interviewees were the two i suspected would have any chance at yale – the others were far less impressive as candidates.

i used to think all students were interviewed if their areas were covered by yale’s asc, but personal observation indicates otherwise.

I got a mail too! Like 10 hours back. now im nervous but also excited! Really hoping it goes well. My interviewer has been nice enough to let me pick the time and place!

It was so great! I hope you all get such an interesting and nice experience!

Submitted on Saturday, contacted last night. My interviewer does not exist on Google, no matter how hard I try to find him.

^Lol, my stalking skills really shone when Googling my interviewer. Turns out I did research in the same field he works in and also selected the same major that he wrote a paper on. So excited that there’s some common ground!

I still haven’t gotten my Eli account info or an interviewer email o.o
And I live in southern California, there’s no way we’re underrepresented.
Well I did only sent in my app a few days ago, but all these fast responses are making me nervous!

Don’t worry about it. The deadline just passed, just give them some time.

I don’t think there are any interviewers in South Florida…blah…i hope it doesnt hurt my chances
