The Journey Class of 2020 ... Denials, redirections, etc.

It seems like around 15 or so offers have been made by CCM which is a low number for them. I am hoping more are to come!!

Today seemed like a quiet day…

18 CCM offers out so far. Lots of people still on hold and more offers to go out this week.

@stagedoormama I do know two people still waiting for results! @sleepymom wow that’s tomorrow!! I don’t know what’s going on with the notification process, everyone seems to have a different situation. @mtmamma2020 how many is it usually? And of course I agree! :slight_smile:

@MTLUVER Thank you!!

Thanks @MTLUVER for the info!!

Hey! I’m applying to CCM for costuming in TD&P, I auditioned February 6th and got put on hold February 9th. I’m super nervous! I know they said that the decision will be made by the first, but does that mean I will be notified tomorrow as well?? I’m so proud of all of you who got in!! I hope I get to go to school with you next year :smiley:

@sleepymom, My S is at Elon too this Friday…Last one of our “audition season.” Break a Leg!

@Dankadon - You too! I hear it is long but fun for the kids. It is our final one too- woohoo!!!

No from Texas today, very sad day. No from Montclair right after that. Super sad.
All no’s after getting past every (10) prescreens. Only one accept from Molloy but no $ so that’s a no. Big sigh.

Only waiting on two more but she doesn’t even want to go to those now.

Oy, what a waste. I’m signing off now. Best of luck to all of you! It’s been an experience, to say the least!

@mtmcmt, so sorry. I feel your pain. My son has no acceptances yet and the number still out is dwindling every day. I understand how scary it is and realize, in a way I haven’t appreciated so fully before, how possible it is to miss the mark when putting together a list. This is a scary competitive major. Believe me, you are not alone.

Aww:( I am so sorry and so hope good news is on its way. There is a list of very nice schools that are still taking applications and conducting auditions. I never knew how hard this process would be, how random the selections could seem, etc. In the end, I wish I had applied more places and I would encourage you both to consider some of the great programs still open. Best wishes to everyone going through this.

I’m sorry. We hurt when our kids hurt. Saying a prayer for you and your child ! And all of the kids in this crazy process.

@mtmcmt We were where you are two years ago…all rejections, one waitlist and my daughter is happily, ecstatically loving her safety school. She had no idea what a blessing this school has become for her. Hang in there and best wishes.

@mtmcmt & @claire74

At this point last year, D was on hold at one school but no firm acceptances. We needed to readjust and refocus. 1 new dress, dozens of hours logged on CC and several NEW auditions scheduled by places that weren’t on our original list … and today she is happy freshmen BFA MT student at a place she hadn’t even had considered (or heard of!) a few months before.

I fully believe she is exactly where she is meant to be … her heart is happy!

There are lots of schools that are still auditioning!

My heart hurts for you both, but hang on! Don’t give up yet!

@mtmcmt , your D could decide that she is interested in one of those schools if she gets accepted, or, if she’s accepted and gets money, you could use that to try to get something from Molloy. In either case, it wouldn’t hurt to contact Molloy/CAP21 (Ricky) and tell them she’d love to attend, but can’t without assistance. Or, you could do what others have done before and add a few more schools to the list! I know the prospect of that has to be exhausting and daunting, but, if she wants this, it’s doable! She might also consider attending CAP21’s 2 year program. There are so many paths to this profession! I sort of obsessively research the backgrounds of actors/actresses, and I did it again last night during the Oscars. So many people never went to college or even dropped out of high school. Of course, some studied theatre in college, but some studied other majors, and, again, some dropped out. Your D passed 10 prescreens. That’s amazing! She obviously has talent. My D and I were told by so many professionals who know this process well that they see really talented people slip through the cracks during this process almost yearly. This process isn’t over yet for your D, and her dream of theatre certainly doesn’t have to be! Obviously, same for your S, @claire74.

What a very hard day @mtcmt! I’m so sorry. This is such a difficult process. We are all rooting for your D and for your S @claire74. We all want to see these kids find their happy place. It’s so hard to be a parent sometimes and this happens to be one of those times. D and I prayed tonight for all those waiting for the right offer to come his or her way. We are grateful something finally came D’s way today but we are very humbled by the fact that the news could’ve easily been different. There’s so much subjectivity involved in this process. Big hugs!

@mtmcmt Last year D was rejected 10 of 11. D had high expectations at the most competitive programs. It was tough times (more for us parents LOL) … however, she remained resilient and never second-guessed her acting; by June, the gloom & doom was replaced with happy excitement as she landed a part in a feature movie acting with some notable A-listers, and finally earned her SAG status. In the fall, she went on to her only BFA drama acceptance at SFUAD with more on-camera experience at their film school last fall, and many more this semester. .She loves the acting courses with Jon Jory, who is a gleaming gem and has provided her with high quality practical lessons. Repeating the theme here: she is where she is meant to be - and is eager to continue pursuing a professional acting career. Persistence in face of rejection is a key lesson in this industry.

Hang in there - Best of luck.

@mtmcmt & @claire74@myloves is correct - we heard the same from many professional actors & agents about this insufferable selection process. The subjectivity is enormous; there are many paths, especially for kids who already have professional on-camera experience, as our D had - which, as it turned out, was not an advantage for these BFA drama programs. Keep believing.

@mtmcmt I’m sorry - we know how you feel. My D got three rejection letters three days in a row two weeks ago. And then she had to go to an audition - and was one of 7 called back out of 40. Talk about low lows to high highs. This process is so random and subjective. You just have to believe they will land where they are supposed to and bloom where they are planted. I hope you have some good news this week!
