I find this interesting: So far, those of you with a more conservative political ideology seem to be more in favor of the Israelis than the Palestinians; those of you with a more liberal standpoint do the opposite.

I live in a majority-Republican town in Fairfield County, CT; it's the richest county in the country and, as such, most of the Republicans are fiscally conservative but not necessarily socially conservative. (Although, if you ask me, neo-cons and true fiscal conservatives are not one and the same, but that's a separate issue.)

Here, most people favor Israel - especially, I've noticed, the liberals.

Strange. I myself am extremely liberal, but I still support Israel. In fact, I am part of a large contingent of Jews who are both liberal and pro-Israel. 3/4 of American Jews voted Kerry. 3/4 of American Jews are in favor of Israel's existence. That means there's significant overlap. [Note: as you attempt to confirm these statistics, keep in mind that some sites show as many as 80% of Jews voting Kerry and 85% for Israel... I choose the smallest numbers I saw.]

It might not have been necessary for a lot of you, but I wanted to offer a reminder: Supporting the existence of Israel and being a liberal are not mutually exclusive.

i must say..u guys do focus on too much on the sufferings of the israelis..no where near caring about the palestinians who went through maddd crap...oh yeh just cuz there wasnt a full blown genocide against them..doesnt make them less important..

UN IS TO BLAME!>...beeches..:|.."ahhh this land here..these ppl dont matter..take it jews..we'll give u some weapons..kill beeches"

its not entirely jews fault either..i mean what do u do when a powerful country is handing you weapons for free and tellling you to kill..

the jews and the palestinians were basically pawns in a chess game but the jewish pawns reached the opponents side and became kings, queens, knights, etc..upgraded..

i have a cool rap video by a palestinian artist expressing his frustration thats really well made (it has english subtitles, but its still catchy)..pm me with ur aim name or email if you want it

i've said repeatedly that israel historically has not had perfect policies by any means. in fact, if there wre no suicide bombings, i'd probably side with the Palestinian cause in temrs of having their own state.

that doesn't mean Israel has no right to exist---goodness it's th eonly thing Jews have to hold onto besides their traditions. if there was no Israel, imagine the implications for their religion!

the poor soldiers DO have a choice...they're not drafted.

yeah i'm sure there ar eplenty of vietnam vets who aren't proud of the war, doesn't mean they shouldn't be proud of serving their country--they deserve our respect no matter what.

I respect people if they are willing to stand for their people against their own country.

mmmm... talking about 'jews' getting their 'land' back, lets call for Native Americans to kick out all Americans out of their land.

Wow, thanks for posting the BLOG of ONE soldier who went in with the agenda of proving that the war is unjust. I wouldn't be surprised if he sneaked in a few rumors just to get his point across.

"We witnessed a Marine kick a six-year-old child in the chest for bothering him about food and water."

Yeah, i'm sure he witnessed that...

I saw many more images and clips of soldiers distributing candy and water to children.

But i applaud you on your quest to prove that America sucks. Keep entertaining us.

No actually what i find is a media that is strikingly liberal. Unlike other conservatives, however, i will not use that point to my advantage. I frankly do not care what the media's view is. Each station only embarasses itself when it presents a one-sided view of an issue. I am just saying, don't use the media to your advantage because it is not in your advantage to do so.

In what i said, i assumed that you meant that the media is controlled by the wealthy elite. Bourgeoisie technically refers to the middle-class. So, i don't really understand what you are trying to say.

Wow...i really must be seeing things because you posted something after my #275 to which i responded to in 276 and now its gone...interesting....

That most people support far leftism is your own opinion. The fact that Bush won in our country shows that most Americans are still unwilling to abandon long-held conservative views in favor of revolutionary ones. Socialism has failed throughout history. Any large country that wishes to uphold democracy would do well to look at the former Soviet Union and all of Eastern Europe before deciding that socialism is the best system. Actually, coming from you, i would not be surprised if you argued that the Soviet Union was a success...

Socialism is a reaction by people and businesses who just can't pull their own weight under free trade. And as we're seeing now with Social Security, trying to create an ideal system that takes care of everybody is impractical and the consequences are catching up with us now. For the silent majority of middle-class Americans who have worked hard all their life to attain some measure of financial success, socialism is not very appealing.

"Well, i consider the imprisonment, torture, and killings of millions as evil..."

Millions? Don't you think you're slightly exaggerating here? You know what i consider evil? I consider kidnapping innocent workers and beheading them on tape evil...i consider lining up 50 unarmed troops and executing them evil, strikingly reminiscent of Japanese actions in China during World War II. I consider ambushing and murdering workers and then hanging their burned remains from a bridge evil...Maybe i'm the only one who is still focused on what really matters.

Those people who have done the above things do not get ANY of my sympathy. They can be imprisoned and tortured forever for all i care. They're not my fellow human beings. You know who i do feel sorry for? The soldier who is now going to serve 10 years in jail and be dishonorably discharged after serving his country for doing what his superior officers told him to do. And those same superior officers have now scapegoated this one person in order to satisfy all of you people who side with the terrorists over our own troops. THAT is an embarassment to America. THAT is what people in the world are probably secretly laughing about. "Hey, did you hear how America imprisoned its own troops after we protested a litte? Hahaa." What other country does something so stupid?

I consider bombing the out of Iraq is evil, when hundreds of innocent lives are taken because the shorter relative of a tree thought there were these things called WMDs in Iraq.

sometimes, things are just very clear. from someone who said that majority of muslims have blood lust, i dont think his heart goes out to the little iraqi children.

alvie, i respect you because you're upfront about your views. you don't hide anything, you don't sugarcoat how you really feel about things just so people can agree with you. you have very set convictions and i admire that.

like, hey if you hate capitalism, just say you hate it! lately, lots of liberals (like Kerry did in his campaign) flip flopped and twisted his real views about loads of issues around becuase he needed to appeal to the greater public.

but at least alvie, you just say what you feel.

however i disagree with 100% of everything you say LoL and thank goodness most Americans do too . i feel as if the only people that wuold feel your views were very in style would be...Castro. or the ghosts of Lenin and Stalin.

Well, sometimes, if my blood is boiling, but I usually don't see the point; who are we convincing again? Better to save your arguments for the real world, where articulating one's opinion is much more difficult than it is online. Often it's charisma more than logic that wins the battle, and you can't develop charisma online.

Still, don't let this deter you, I like hearing your opinions!
