I'm REALLY not trying to be a troll here, I've honestly never heard of them..
- I got a letter from them today in the mail, saying"Blah blah, you've been invited to the NSHSS due to your academic achievement at ______ High School" and the whole drill.
Is it really worth the $60 membership? Like, what do you get out of it. Someone help?

No. There are several other posts regarding this. My brother who’s a HS drop out, got that letter.

NSHSS is a private membership organization which honors outstanding high school students who excel academically. By becoming a member of NSHSS, students gain opportunities to connect with colleges and universities through society member events and college fairs, to apply for exclusive scholarships, to take advantage of partner discounts and to get involved in educational programs and build their r

I think the requirement for NSHSS is a 3.2 or a 170ish on the PSAT. It isn’t worth your money or your time. It is completely meaningless. Don’t waste your money, and don’t put it on your college apps. If you do a google search you will find several threads on the topic.

^Your SN removes your credibility. All you do is spam every post

Don’t do it! Just throw the letter away. It honestly doesn’t give you any merit and it’s mostly randomly given out. A kid with a 3.2 could get one but someone with a 4.0 could be skipped. Definitely not worth it. Just stick with NHS if you have the option.

My friend with like a 3.5 and terrible test scores got a letter from them. I hadn’t heard of it and even I immediately knew it was a scam.

The fact that you have to pay to be a member should set off alarms. NHS is millions times better and is free. Like someone previously said, stick with NHS, a real organization with real benefits and real merit.
