The nerve of teachers... -__-"

Here's the deal. In C++, you never really have to study, and the class is REALLY easy. I ace all the projects and such. Fine. No big deal?

WRONG!

From semester A to B, I switched from the head of the computer department to the lowest teacher (doesn't know anything). Apparently, my new teacher doesn't know how to code, so the teacher basically reads off the textbook and laughs like a know-it-all when we correct a mistake.

So here is the time-line of events that takes place within the past week.

June 1, 2007: 99% A, Grades updated
June 4, 2007: 81% B, Grades updated.
June 5, 2007: 81% B, I go see the teacher and the conversation (something like this):

... (intros)
me: umm... I think you made a mistake on my project
teach: oh really, now?
me: yes, you see, you gave me an E on this project, which I clearly turned in
teach: oh, but you didn't turn that in..
me: yes, i did
teach: let me check ...... oh! here it is! Well, I still have to give you a penalty for it being late because its not in my electronic folder.
me: why? I turned it in on time and its in your folder.
teach: well i didn't have it when i graded it and apparently its not in my folder.
me: ?__?. I don't deserve a penalty for your mistake and plus, I can even send you a properties screenshot with the date of creation in your folder because there's obviously some mistake.
teach: well, too bad. Make sure to turn it in next time, so as not to get a deduction. And I don't care about your screenshot, i didn't have it.
me: but I did turn it in.
teach: no you didn't.
me: yes, i did.
teach: what part of it do you not understand? Just remember to turn it on time next time.
me: grumbles and walks away

June 6, 2007: 81% B, Project grade still not changed. Day of last Unit Test.
June 7, 2007: 75% C, Final Unit Test Grade and updated. W T F?!?!

-24% in less than 6 days? Unheard of...

The teacher most likely failed me on that test, because the teacher thought i was incompetent. If I made a mistake, the teacher probably took off full credit for it, despite being a trivial mistake (e.g missing a semicolon = -7%), which never happens to other students.

Also, the teacher screwed up my grade last quarter too, by losing some of my assignments (-7%)

..........
Any suggestions?

wow.

that's really messed up. go talk to your first sem. teacher or get your parents involved.

some teachers are just dumb ( please see the thread which i posted , the dilemma one, and you will realize just how dumb)

Your teacher seems very similar to a teacher at my school (Ms. Hunter) and equally as unqualified. Fortunately, when I took Programming 1 (the C++ course at my school) last year, I never had her.

Here's some options I can suggest:

If your former teacher is the department head, then go to see him/her. If he/she understands your situation, then he/she may be able to change your grade, or at least help you in some way.

If not too late, try to get your counselor to switch you to another teacher ASAP.

File a formal complaint to your principal or administrator. If necessary, get signatures from fellow students who acknowledge your teacher as being grossly incompetent.

Improve your programming skills to the point that even she can't possibly discriminate against you due to your proficiency in C++.

Suck up to your teacher. This can be used as a last resort in case the other options don't work.

Hope this helps.

So she had it the whole time, but she's penalizing you because she didn't know she had it? That's ..... really stupid.

Is your school public or private?

public (10 char)

Talk to your counselor. That **** sucks.

Talk to everyone in authority. Counselors, Vice Principal, Principal, the district... Don't let go of it until it is over.

OMG ARRRG!!! Just reading this gets me so aggravated!

Yes, don't let it go until it's over. Fight, fight, fight! Don't ever let anyone tell you no (in reasonable situations).

Is this teacher a female by the way?

I've seen worse cases....but they're not mine to tell...

Use the shotgun approach. :)

Uh.

Do you have proof of having turned it in on time? I do not know what an "electronic box" is, exactly. Is there something time/date stamped on there which you can print out?

Also, is the "screenshot" time/date stamped and easy to print out?

If you can answer yes to both of these questions, then you print your business out and take it to the head of the department. You already climbed one rung of the ladder by speaking with the airhead teacher (no offense to any teachers out "there"). The next rung of the ladder is the head of the department. Then, the principal. No fooling. Grades are sacred, man. And, you are totally in the right with this whole situation.

Get your parents involved. That usually works for stuff.

Yeah, this is definitely one of those times to get your parents. This isn't the difference between a 97 or a 98, this is 20 points!

Wow, that is complete non-sense. I suggest

1) Talk to your GC and the head of the dep.
2) Have your parents call to complain to gc, head of dep, and principal. because this is not a small issue. it is a huge. I mean 24% in less than 6 days. thats crap.
3) file complaint
4) switch teachers

5) Shotgun approach. :)

Shotgun approach?

Yep. Shotgun approach. :)

lol , i just say your location thing pretty funny.
