@jkes001 congrats!! what college did you get accepted into?

@kobeftw
i got into my first choice college, thurogood marshall, really excited. how about urself?
still looking forward to ucla decisions though

ohh marshall. nice. i straight up ranked the colleges randomly because i had no idea what they were. and i got my first choice Warren. hopefully it works out lol

btw. have you taken posc 17 at ucr?

@kobeftw
thats underdeveloped world right? nah i havent, ive only taken comparative and world, and im taking american this spring. Dude, i was so worried i wudnt get in cuz of pre reqs or whatever because i didnt even worry about stuff like that at all.

@ Cali Trumpet, would you mind me asking what your major is? I’m currently a 1st year Economics major at UCSC and I plan on applying to Berkeley next year for Econ.

As for the thread, I never even knew this existed! I thought UC to UC transfers were almost non existent. I lurked here for months and read mostly about CC to UC transfers. I applied to Davis for a sophomore transfer this past fall but I plan on staying here at UCSC until next year so I can apply to Berkeley or LA.

My application this year:

Sophomore Transfer UCSC –> UCD
Applied For: Managerial Econ
GPA: 3.835; Major: 4.0
EC’s: None =/
Pre-Reqs: Done

Good luck to everyone; trying to be a successful UC to UC transfer is definitely no walk in the park

Honestly if you have a year left and are absolutely set on transferring, then go up a cc. It’ll save you money and your chances as a cc are higher, but that’s only if you really don’t want to stay at your university. Uc transfer chances are slim unless you have a high gpa and your course requirements match the major of the uc you’re applying to. Good luck though , I’m sure there are a few exceptional situations!

any UC to UC people waiting for their ucsd decisions?? sd is my first choice… :(

Anyone else get accepted yet?

@DrAhumada: So I’m new to this site and I was curious to know if you successfully transferred to the UC of your choice? If so, was the process hard and tedious? I’m planning to go either UCSB or UCSC and maybe possibly transfer after a year or two. My first choice was UCLA (which I didn’t get into) so I’m actually hoping to do the whole UC to UC transfer stuff.

Hi everyone quick question I am a ucsb (freshman year only) to ccc student. I hope to transfer to UCI, I had family circumstances that I explained which caused me to leave sb. I got an F in a math course, statistics for communications, due to my family issue. That same quarter i managed to receive two A’s in addition to the F.

I have continued my education at a ccc and I took 43 semester units. I have 38 quarter or 25 semester units at ucsb. My ccc gpa is 3.94 in all transferable courses. My uc gpa was 2.94. All together I calculated my gpa from both schools and I got a 3.71 gpa total.

So I got into UCR for fall 2011 already. I’m not sure the ucsb math class was transferable because when i tried to go to apply to csfu they said it did not count as a required math course.

Do you think that the uc application calculated this failed math course into my gpa?? I never took another Math transferable course and still got accepted to UCR. How do you think UCI will view this? Will I stand a chance at acceptance? I desperately want to go to UCI because it’s close to home and best for my family situation.

Thanks for the help!

I failed a math course too and still got accepted to UCSD and UCR (UCI acceptance hasn’t come out yet for me) so I don’t think it will be a big deal, and if you have already completed over 40 transferable units with a good GPA then you should be fine… did you explain the F in your application? I think it helps if you do.

Yes I explained it! I applied for fall 2010 too but got rejected from UCI accepted to UCR. I think it was because I only applied with 25 semester units completed and only 12 in progress at a cc. Now I have 40 at a cc ad I brought up my gpa. Here’s to hoping I make it!

Good luck to you too and the fact that ucsd accepted you with the F makes me feel better! Did you explain it also?

I got rejected from UCI last year too! I also got a D in Oceanography… I thought the class would be a cake walk, but the professor was crazy about his tests! 150 multiple choice and 4 essay questions. It was a telecouse, how does that happen! (we had 5 test that were scheduled to be taken at the college) It was supper hard to get anything better than a C. I even did a extra credit essay and a self guided field trip to the Aquarium of the Pacific and still ended up with a D…

have you taken other math courses after the F course?

Oh wow, yeah tough classes are such a pain!!! No, I tried to take a math, but I could never sign up on time… I was in four different ccc’s trying to get enough u it’s … Did you take any other math courses? Did you only have 1 F? And what was your gpa?

So many questions haha

Thanks!

Yea, I retook it, so technically it doesn’t affect my GPA but the UC still sees it. I didn’t retake the oceanography class, wasn’t about to go through that again. Haha. And i failed one philosophy class but i don’t think that it transfers … I took all of those classes early in my ccc years so I’ve kept a pretty clean record since then. I wrote in my application that I wasn’t really focused during that time but now I’m 100% into my academic career… GPA: 3.34 international studies/ politics.

Oh nice, did you cover all the prereqs for your major? I’m stressing about UCI, i plan on retaking the stats course this quarter, but i don’t think it matters much now. Do you know if they automatically reject you if you don’t have a math? Since UCR accepted me without math I’m a bit confused…

Not really, I just applied. I looked at assist.org and it said you didn’t have complete them… I did the IGETC thing. Im not sure about the math thing, if you call the school’s admin and records (858.534.4831 for UCSD) they should be able to tell you a for sure answer… I think if your using TAG or IGETC then yea, you would need it but if your just transferring then no. Sorry I’m not too sure… What’s your major?

Got accepted to UCSB yesterday! Still haven’t heard anything from SD yet …

Yeah I didn’t tag but I tried to follow igetc as closely as I could under the circumstances… I’m a film and media major for UCI alternate history and at UCR same thing, got in for media and cultural studies. Have everything done except the math

Hey guys. Quick question. I got into ucsd as a poly sci major, but on my application I put that I would take Statistics during the Summer. What happens if I decide to not take it? Does my admissions get revoked?
