That will be my reaction if I get into ucla

@ocnative ASSIST specifically says that those not initially admitted to the Political Science program cannot switch into it after transfer 8-|

@smashley93 I haven’t really figured out what I want to do with the major yet to be honest. I am hoping on campus there are a lot of resources to help me figure that out. What bums me out is that we are only accepted as pre majors then we need to apply to the IDS program. My alt major is asian studies but if I get accepted into that I want to switch it to global studies. If they consider my major GPA of 4.0 maybe I can get accepted into pre ids!

I also saw IDS as a more applicable field of study as opposed to international relations which I thought was very theory based

@cayton I really really hope you’re right, and I also hope the decisions do come out this weekend because if they don’t it’s just gonna be a crappy week. I wasn’t worried until people began to mention that decisions are being released this weekend lol.

@robertshahinyan

I’m optimistic. The signs seem to point to UCLA releasing decisions this weekend. I’ll probably call the admissions office tomorrow to ask about that.

Damn, @cayton is like the based god of college confidential [-O<

@squashbanana I felt the same way about IDS until one of my honors profs. told me it’s a useless major. That worries me. On the other hand, so many people say that what you choose to study for your undergrad is irrelevant so idk. We shall see. Do you have decent essays and EC’s? I know UCLA isn’t as “holistic” as Berkeley, but those things may help you!

@xcballin

lol, I’m just a guy who has too much time on his hands and uses it to try and help calm other people’s nerves and answer their questions. :P

I’m wondering if anyone knows…

My parents just updated their tax returns on my fafsa, and I didn’t know if my admittance decision might be delayed because of that? It said on the fafsa that it is ok to make changes, once your taxes are done.

@smashley93 I already got accepted to UCSC, UCSB and UCSD. Most likely I’ll be going to UCSD because it actually has my major. But you know, I can’t even say I’m 100% sure about studying Public Health because I haven’t even taken any Public Health classes (UCSD requires I take those at their school). I’ve only taken the pre-req classes, which are related of course, but isn’t an actual Public Health class. Everything I know about the subject is from the internet or from what people have told me. It sounds interesting, but I won’t know for sure until I take a legit class. So I’m taking a gamble. Lots of gambles. x.x

@5nonnegotiables

Nah, your admissions decisions won’t be delayed because of that.

@smashley93 Wow they really said that? idk I think there are so much more useless majors out there than IDS because I have not heard that about it. Were they a UCLA student? I would think if it was such a useless major it wouldn’t be so impacted. Since ids is impacted if I wanted to change it to a less impacted one I don’t think I would have much of a problem. My friends have done it that go to ucla. Either I live near ucla so even if I get into cal I would have to do some serious thinking about which one I want to go to.
And I don’t have a huge amount of ecs but I have a good amount of work experience, especially some in the area of working with people from other countries and the UC rep I talked to says that work experience makes up for the ec. And my essay I have no particular thoughts on. I think it did what it needed to but I guess maybe not too outstanding.

How glorious would it be to know over the weekend.

By the way, is anyone going to Bruin Day on Saturday?

@ronitsky

No. I believe Bruin Day is for accepted high school applicants.

@Cayton

Oh my! I thought it’d be a “shared” day for freshmen and transfer applicants so to gain an insight on the campus and on student life. Thanks for sparing me an embarrassing trip!

I was wondering about that. Correct me if I’m wrong but since 2011 transfer admissions have been released after Bruin Day. I hope admissions will be released on Saturday but with so much of the admissions staff working at Bruin Day I wouldn’t be surprised if decisions come later next week.

Hey @cayton, based on past experience, do you think there’s any chance UCD, UCSD or UCI might jump the gun and release tomorrow?

It would kind of make sense then , to have decisions come out after that Bruin Day and looks like its over at 4 or before that so new transfers could attend… Don’t you think?

@lindyk8

I hope so, but I don’t really know. Sorry. :(

@ronitsky

No problem. I believe we transfers get our own “day” at UCLA.

Is it okay if I update my coursework for Spring Quarter after accepted by UCLA?
Because I have a minor change with my courses, which are slightly different from what I listed in the UC Application.
THANK YOU!
