@Cayton I think there’s a Transfer Admit day in May?

@smashley93 Your undergrad major isn’t all that important IF you plan on going to grad school. If you aren’t, then yeah it is important. Have you looked into what kind do jobs you can get studying IDS?

I just looked it up, and according to their Facebook, Bruin Day for transfers is on May 10th. That should be exciting.

@CalBruin @ronitsky

That sounds about right. I think it’s called “UCLA Transfer Student Allience: Pilot Day” or “UCLA Pilot Day” for short.

Here’s a link that describes this event: http://www.uclatransfers.com/p/pilot-day.html

@ronitsky What? Really?! Ugh! That’s the same day as UCSD’s transfer day. The UCs really need to coordinate this better so that they don’t fall on the same day. What if I am seriously considering both schools?!

If I get accepted into IDS at UCLA I wonder if I can switch it to global studies. How would I go about asking them? Both majors you’re accepted as a pre major

Hey guys, do you know of anything about the FAFSA and cal grants for the UC’s? were we supposed submit something to cal grant after submitting the FAFSA on time, Such as GPA???

@robertshahinyan GPA certification was to be sent by your community college. They do this for Cal Grants/FAFSA without even you knowing!

And wow, just got back on and saw the update for the rolling admissions. I am very much excited (and nervous)! And to @Cayton, you are the oracle of this thread!

@robertshahinyan don’t think so. I didn’t do anything else after FAFSA, but I still got offered Cal Grant money for the schools that let me access my FAFSA estimates.

Hey all! This is actually my first time posting on cc so it feels a bit strange exposing myself to the world lol But anyway, I was wondering if some of you would be willing to give me your thoughts on my prospects :)

Transferring from a CCC
History Major 3.69 GPA (Current GPA after winter session: 3.73)
Major GPA 3.9
All prerequisites and IGETC completed Fall 2013
ECs: PTK Officer, Scholars program, Research Assistant at a History Museum, Peer Tutor/Mentor for at-risk middle school students
TAP Certified: Yes
Essay: Pretty solid (9 ish)
Accepted: UCSB
Pending: UCSD, UCI, UCB, UCLA

Comments:
I’m a bit worried about my GPA because it was below the average admitted 3.73 GPA when I submitted my application. I’ve heard that UC’s don’t take into consideration our winter grades b/c I submitted them after the TAU priority deadline (1/31). On a side note, do I also have a chance at Cal? I know Berkeley tends to evaluate apps a bit more holistically. My essays primarily focused on my history research and PTK experiences. Any thoughts?

@financewiz @anavera WHEW! thank you guys, I got really scared when i went to check and they said there is a March 2nd deadline

[PUSH]
Is it okay if I update my coursework for Spring Quarter after accepted by UCLA?
Because I have a minor change with my courses, which are slightly different from what I listed in the UC Application.
I’ve completed all major & IGETC in Winter Quarter. Currently, I am taking these GE courses to fulfill the 90 UC Transferable units.
THANK YOU!

@Challenging you should probably email UCLA admissions for that. I think those things are handled on a case by case basis. Best of luck!

@robertshahinyan That was the FAFSA app deadline.

thank you @calbruin
good luck for you too!

@smcberry

Your ECs are good(Not that it matters much, lol. UCLA cares more about GPA and pre-req completion.), you’re TAP-certified, and you have a competitive GPA for history. I know that UCLA takes winter grades into consideration, so with a GPA of 3.73 and with TA certification, I think you’re in.

With Berkeley, I think you’re competitive with your ECs, which Berkeley cares more about. Good luck!

@FinanceWiz

Haha, how am I an oracle? :P

@Challenging
If they are minor changes, you’re fine, from what I’ve heard. Like as long as it doesn’t affect igetc or your prerequisites. Just make sure to notify them though.

@Cayton You are one that guides us all! lol ^:)^

@FinanceWiz

I will do my best to lead my people to the promised land in Westwood, known only by those four letters: UCLA.
