The Official Fall 2014 UCLA Transfer Decisions Thread

Accepted UCLA!

Major: Art History
Out of State - NY’er over here. Worked my butt off for the last 2 years at community college haha
GPA: 3.89
EC: Phi Theta Kappa, Honors Program, Art Club, Italian Club, Drama Club
Financial aid: Nothing :(

Not sure if I can call Financial Aid office and ask for help/re-evaluation? Esp since flying out and back (and again for Christmas) will be extra

Congrats to all the acceptances. Sorry to the people who were not offered acceptance. Wishing everyone the best of luck with wherever they decide to ultimately transfer to.

@nydallas‌

Awesome! It’s good to see OOS applicants get in

Considering an appeal:

Rejected with a 4.0 GPA for my major (Political Science) and overall. Finished CCC in 3 semesters and volunteered in West Africa during my extra spring semester. I finished 4 of 5 prerequisite courses for my major, only 4 are required according to assist.org. White, female, grew up in Boston but attended a CCC after high school.

Is it wrong to appeal my case?

@‌ccctouc

Call and ask why you got denied, Did you complete the transferable Stats course?

@ccctouc Did you attend a california community college?

Of those still waiting for a decision, do you think it has to do with last name? Have any of you had to wait and later received a decision? jw if it’s true that they only update once a day.

Does anybody know when those of us with apps still under review can expect to hear something?

Since I was so excited, I forgot to post my stats.

Accepted
Overall GPA: 3.45
Major GPA: 3.45
Major: Chicano Studies
Major Requirements: No
IGETC: Yes
EC: I had no extracurricular activities whatsoever. I was going to lie, but I thought that was unethical.
Personal Essays: I just recycled the one I wrote in high school. I was pretty surprised that I got in, since I wrote about computer science on my personal statement, and I later changed my major after I had already submitted my application.

@Shugahs‌ I wonder what the order was due to. The most basic thing I can think of is last name? I’m a V so yea…

Decision pending… Any psych majors accepted???

Anyone know how the official edu email works? Will the messages display on the myucla website?

@rambo831 my last name starts with J. I have noticed that there are several pre-econ and pre-bus econ. majors still under review.

ACCEPTED

WOOOOOOOOOO!

rejected…so devastated
Major:Gender Studies
GPA: 3.56
Major GPA:4.0
Major Pre-Reqs: Completed
TAG: Nope, not offered at my school :frowning:
IGETC: Yes! Taking my last math class this semester

EC: Seriously, no time. I work whenever I can.
Accepted: UCSB, SFSU, SJSU, CSUCI, CSUN
Rejected: None
Pending: UCB

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected (strengths/weaknesses):
I honestly have no idea, I mean my gpa is not as high as the average for UCLA students but my gpa is above average for my program and last year they accepted 67% of those who applied to it! Even the UCLA representative who came to my school said I had a really good chance of getting in. I just must be a big idiot or something :((( My dreams are totally crushed because this was my dream school, but UCSB will be a good choice (doubt I will be getting into UCB if i didnt get into UCLA) The only thing I can think of is that I totally bombed about 4 years ago when I first entered CC but I have been getting amazing grades ever since, and my gpa.

Was honestly not expecting this since admissions was 1.2% last year

Accepted
Overall GPA: 4.00
Major GPA: 4.00
Major: Computer Science
Major Requirements: no CS classes articulated but I took a bunch of them anyways for UCB and UCSD
IGETC: Yes
EC: Honors Program, Math tutor, Leadership role teaching middle school students good study habit, made some computer programs I talked about in my personal statement
Personal Statement: It was pretty good but nothing really special, I talked about an interest in graduate school and some research projects I have completed for my honors program

@chaoscuber CONGRATS!! We were worrying for nothing man

I’m an econ major too makes sense…

@shugahs yep, pre-econ here and my application is still under review :(

@gotsomehope

I saw that a lot of waitlisted students from previous year were offered admissions for UCSD. I was also offered the same option but I’m gonna pass on it because I just don’t want to go to SD. Good luck and keep me posted! :)

@campfireweekend‌ @rambo831‌
Did you get an email from admissions last week?

They asked me to provide additional information on my gaps in educational history

I’m seriously so surprised…I know appealing is a dumb decision but does anyone think I have grounds to do so? I have had some hardships (serious panic attacks and depression problems, although it really never affected my grades) and that’s the only thing I can think to write about…but yeah i’m just surprised because my GPA is above average for the program I applied to according to last years statistics…who knows maybe a lot more people were interested in gender studies this year
