You may have to prepare to reapply to those schools and others this Fall in case you get rejected from Berkeley too.

How…ballsy…

I was going to apply to only UCLA and UCI, but I applied to UCR and UCSB last minute because I was a pansy. I wasted 210 dollars for nothing, but hindsight is 20/20.

I’m tempted to make your situation into an insanity wolf meme, but that’d be cruel on my part. No one deserves to have their plight made fun of…

@BurntCorpse

You think that’s Ballsy? Back in November, I only wanted to apply to one school: UCLA.

My family was urging me to apply to more schools, just in case lol

@burntcorpse meme away my friend.

I actually got accepted by Yale, BUT, it was contingent on SAT’s, and as an itnernational student I never did them. I thought UCLA would for sure accept me, and since I wanted to stay in LA, I didn’t bother with yale. ■■■■■■■ ■■■■ ■■■■

@GreatestThe in your case taking a gap year really only helps you if you do something spectacular during the break. Maybe once you find out why you were rejected, then you will have a better idea of how to move forward. Hopefully Berkley accepts you this year though! I remember reading in the threads last year that UCR offered admission to some people who hadn’t applied there. People got emails from Riverside basically saying if you submit an application we’ll let you in. Also some Cal States take applications later and even had Spring admission.

@2016candles I know this is crazy, but I for some reason think my appeal would work. Crazy like a fox!

Anyone going to the event on may 10? Is it a transfer day or a presentation for there honors program?

Anyone know the official UCLA 2014 Transfer page on FB? My daughter can’t find it. Thx.

@GreatestThe I wish you tons of luck! I hope your appeal does go through! I was just offering up possible Plans C & D :)

@Cayton

Good thing you were accepted. Imagine being rejected and having to attend another year at a CC…Unless, of course, you had other plans like skinny dipping in the bahamas with victoria secret models. I’d gladly accepted a rejection letter from UCLA, but I’d probably regret it after my 5-8 seconds of pure ecstasy.

My daughter took a tour of UCLA a while back and they said there is a three-day event for admitted transfers in summer and emails will be sent out about it after June 5. That’s what the tour guide said anyway.

@sonic23

It’s for transfers

Bruin Transfer Day: May 10

You and your family are invited to come to UCLA from 1-5pm to ask your questions, take a tour, and get excited about Bruin Transfer Pride

http://www.transfers.ucla.edu/calendar.html

@BurntCorpse

lol, yeah. That’d be nice and I wouldn’t mind being rejected if I got to do that. :P

@lindyk8

Interesting. There’s also a UCLA transfer day next month. UCLA certainly knows how to make its admitted students feel special.

On another note, I’ve technically been to UCLA before, but it was only to see a talent show, I believe, which was held at night. So although I was on the campus, I remember basically nothing about what it looked like. I’ll be going to the UCLA student store tomorrow to get a UCLA sweater, so maybe I can take a tour of the campus then.

And I’ll definitely attend transfer day next month! Will you and your daughter go too?

@sonic23

It’s an event for all admitted transfers.

@cayton I think I got it wrong. It’s an event for ALL admitted students, I believe.

Does anyone know about best housing options for transfers?

To everyone that were admitted to UCLA, congratulations!

I was rejected and I’m not bitter or sad because I completed 1 pre-req, not to mention my GPA was not UCLA standard. However, I was a little bothered by how they worded the last paragraph, particularly the sentence that went something like: “we encourage you to NOT appeal this decision.”

This is my first rejection letter so I’m not sure if this is standard, but man, I felt like crap after reading that sentence.

I doubt they change rejection/admitted letters for each applicant. That may be a generic statement to discourage people who shouldn’t appeal just for appeals sake. If you genuinely believe you should’ve been admitted, then go for it. What’s there to lose? They’re going to reject you twice?

Is that standard for all UC’s? I was told that some UC’s encourage their applicants to appeal… I don’t intend on appealing but my point was that it was uninviting.

@WhiteTiger84

Yes, it is uninviting, but think about it from their perspective. They had a whopping 100k applicants this year I believe (80k freshman and 20k transfers). They can only accept a fraction of that so, imagine being flooded with appeal letters from thousands of rejected applicants. I doubt they’d want to do the admission process all over again.

Hi, anyone receive ucla email?
