the answer to the science was definitely 20. it said there were 30 guanine out of 100. for every guanine, there is one cytosine. that leaves 40. for ever adenine, there is one thymine. 40/2=20...semester of genetics DEFINITELY paid off.

drumnrun..thank u very much for that. i put endow as well. the def didnt fit imo and it didnt flow with the rest of the passage what so ever. dishing up is slang, but still a better choice over endow

noooooo....im so stupid..i cant believe i put 30 for that DNA question...my ap bio teacher would be devasted..

for english:
"a dog, a car, a policeman"?
and the question before that:
"wearing hat backwards"?

i kept that the dog, a car, a policeman because it told what was in the whole picture and it asked for a sentence that talked about the composition as a whole. i think the question before was the one with the choice of "writing a ticket for the red car" and it connected to the previous sentence, which the question asked for, so that's what i put.

Do you think this ACT was about the same in difficulty and type of questions as the Real SAT book? If not, what was different?

ubi_sum for english:
"a dog, a car, a policeman"?

I debated that one....for quite a while....

I think I put the choice that was like
"life in action" or something to that effect...

because although the police, car, and dog were the specifics of the picture, the boy realized in the passage that his pictures were really catching the "surprises" of life... and the everyday reality of his pictures...

I dunno, I had to guess....

momof2ky: I thought the Math section was a little bit harder, only because of the test nerves though(first time taking it)... in the real act book i usually have about 10 mins left to spare on the practice, today i had about 5. reading for me was a lot better today, writing was a bit more difficult but not by too much...

drumrun, i put "life in action!" as well

I also put endowed cause that is not acceptable, debating over dished up tho...

Personally i thought the reading was easy...just me tho

Also, was it "unending zeal" or something like that for one of the ?'s?

plus, i totally owned that essay; I made references to the Iraq war and the Arab-Israeli conflict, and for the against I talked about House (the show)

:)

I also put "life in action!"

I definitely think that answer was "a dog, a car, a policeman" because the question asked what answer would show all the images in the picture

I put "a dog, a car, a policeman" too. It seemed to fit for me.

I dunno... It asked to sum up the "subject matter" of the preceding paragraph, so I put "a dog, a car, a cop." "Life in Action!" just didn't seem to fit.

on the one with the A) Contributing, B) Dishing up, C) Endowing, D) I dunno (irrelevant), i think the answer was A. This is because the word provided in context was "providing." So, to find the least acceptable replacement, you have to choose the word that is most distantly related to "providing." "Dishing up" is slang for providing or playing, and "endowing" is a synonym to providing (Webster's def of endow: to provide with some talent or quality).

Therefore, contributing is the least acceptable because deviates the furthest from the definition of providing. Also, the sentence didn't reference what the other musicians were contributing to. I think it was something like "Providing the melody were the bass and drum players..." If contributing were added here, the sentence would read "Contributing the melody were the bass and drum players..." If contributing were added you would not know what the bass and drum players were contributing to.

So I think the least acceptable was A) Contributing.

for the unending zeal question, i think i omitted the underlined part.

did any of you get an unusual amount of A/Fs in a row. In the middle I got like a lot of them (prob 6)

English:
I put "Endowed" didn't make sense for the Poetic Justice reading. "Dished up" actually makes the most sense because the tone is informal and there's an adjective nearby that says "tasty."
The lead singer also plays the alto sax makes the most sense.
The fisherman thing doesn't fit in the narrative, because it contradicts the free nature that the author feels underwater.
The order of the sentences in the diver reading was 2,1,3 (I think).
The diver capitalized "on" his training.
A lot of underlined selections simply didn't belong.

Math:
Can't remember any of these, except the two questions about circle angles were 60 degrees. And hexagons have 120 degree inside angles.
Overall a really easy section, hardly any precal.

Reading:
In which paragraph did the daughter show tender care for her mother? I put the last one because it talked about how the ropes would protect her mother, but the paragraph about her mother coming home from work showed affection, too (about going home to do the chores or whatever).
Did the accomplice guy know that the Air Bike thing wouldn't take off, or was it something else?

Science:
The key said "saturated air", so the answer was 100% relative humidity.
The air pocket thing released at 2 P.M. had the greatest drop in temperature per unit time.
The raw grains of sand had to be ground up because otherwise light woudln't pass through them.
The sand came from the offshore dunes.
The DNA questions were really easy, didn't even require looking at the experiments.
Energy only came from the charged capacitor (II only).
I was unsure of whether the answer for the last one was 51-70 H or over 70 H. If it was only left on for 10 secs, then it would be over 70 H easily, but the question said 20 secs so it'd be less... I think.

This was my first ACT, but it seemed pretty easy and I'm hoping for a 35-36. I sucked on the practice one I took last night but somehow got a 34, and I'm feeling more confident about this one.

i actually think the raw grains of sand was something about their thickness. and i completely missed the saturated air question, i couldn't figure out what the hell that was about

I was unsure of whether the answer for the last one was 51-70 H or over 70 H. If it was only left on for 10 secs, then it would be over 70 H easily, but the question said 20 secs so it'd be less... I think.

For that question, I put over 70 H. Also, a lot of answers are still controvertible because we have 3 people saying 'this' and 3 people saying 'that' so can we all come to an agreement?

What would my score be if I

-2 English, -2 math, -7 on reading, and -4 on science?

34 34 28 28? 31 composite?
