n Yeah I just realised, I wrote the 200th post. yayyyy!!!*waves his hand to the applauding crowd, only to find nobody there *
Kinda feel nostalgic top last year’s thread.

Okay, so here’s the list I have so far.

Stanford - 1 (LAS)

UPenn - 2 (LAS)

UPenn, Wharton - 1 (LAS)

Pakistan…ZINDABAD. LAS…ZINDABAD.

Good luck to those who await their fate. Have faith; God is great.

lol I know I am addicted to CC when i REFRESH THE PAGE EVERY 60 seconds.

waji, I don’t want to post their stats because it kind of violates their privacy. If they want to share their stats it’s their decision.
My interview went well, I think. Honestly, don’t prepare TOO much for it, but you should be ready to talk about your hobbies, interests, EC’s, etc. Other than the standard stuff, we mostly just talked about why I wanted to live in Pakistan after college in spite of the security situation. And bring a resume! It gives the interviewer the impression that you’re prepared, and it lets him just pick an activity from your resume and ask you about it.

I hope that helps.

Let’s keep the list going, people!

I believe Getting a Rejection LEtter from MIT is a big achivement

Serioulsy u need Guts to fight against urself

every single day i keep fighting against myself shuld i apply or not
i feel stupid applying but still i cant resist myself for not applying
i feel morale down when i think my freinds/teacher/ppl who knw me will laugh on me for applying to MIT with sum modreate Stats but then pumps myself i want to show them i will get accepted, feeling like slapping my acceptance letter on there face.
But when i feel i will get a rejection Lol ( i came back to where i started )

i dont knw Wat will be da result of this fight with myself But hopefuly i will by JAN 1st 2010

Continuing on with the list:
I merged Wharton with the rest of UPenn since it is essentially one university; you can change it back if you want.

Stanford - 1 (LAS)

UPenn - 3 (LAS, inc. 1 Wharton)

University of Texas at Austin - 1 (KAS)

Texas A&M University - 1 (KAS)

SUNY Buffalo - 1 (KAS)

@Dark_Angel: go ahead and apply! you’ll probably regret it if you never try.

@waji: My interviewer, as I mentioned was a Poli Sci major. I brought my resume but gave it to him at the end. We discussed a lot of things, it was very straightforward but we did get into a discussion about the future of education for the underprivileged in Pakistan (I’ve taught the poor so this is a really important issue for me).
Oh, and btw, acceptances fluctuate year to year - as I’ve noted before, we do have someone at Stanford now from last year and another at WUSTL (on a full scholarship, I think? Not sure). But, as for Harvard, I hear we haven’t had anyone since the 90s; Yale and Princeton - just about never, as far as I know. (Or maybe before the 70s?)
Penn we do get acceptances to generally, sometimes more than one. One student here turned them down a couple of years back for a full 7-year med program at Johns Hopkins, so it really depends.
Let’s hope this year’ll be better. Inshallah whatever’s best will happen for all of us! :)

University of Texas at Austin - 1 (KAS)

Purdue - 1 (LAS)

@hb730: Did Zahid Shafique interview you?

@Ecthelion: no, nor do I think it’s fair for interviewers’ names to be posted in public without their consent. So sorry, I won’t be mentioning my interviewer. But he was pretty awesome, I’ll tell you that. :)

Hey, did any of you 2013ers request for fee waivers? All you have to do is to ask your counselor to write a request, right?

Come on man…Its just a name…waisay my cousin said the same thing last year about his yale interviewer…

Hahaha but still, I respect his privacy. Don’t worry about little things like this!

waisay on a completely different note…do you guys know of the Heisenberg uncertainty principle…when ever i think of CC, that is the first thing that comes to my mind…I mean there is no doubt that CC has helped us all a lot…but before CC i used to be really sure of my chances…not all that certainty has evaporated into thin air…

Is the guy who got into UT from KAS going there?

there are some seriously awesome guys around here.

one thing i wanna ask u guys is that how much does the transcripts count…
i mean everythin else on my app is good but school transcipts are pretty awful to say tyhe least. compared to the class theyre okay but man when one just sees the grades9 c’s etc) u really get a bad impression

could this break my ivy apps?>

@macunian: transcripts are the single most important part of your app, so that could be problematic.

@joiya550: hopefully not! I got into UT and A&M (even though I’m in Karachi I’m a Texas resident, and Yale scea lets you apply to your state’s rolling schools even if you find out before). They’re my safeties, so I’d only go to UT if all else fails during the RD round. How come?

And @ecthelion: Heisenberg uncertainty principle from chemistry? That brings back bad memories, haha.

@mancunian: If your grades were poor in grade 9 alone, then it’s not that bad, although great scores throughout high school would definitely be better. If there was a specific reason for the drop in grades (adjusting to a new school, personal issues etc.), I would suggest that you mention it somewhere in your application.

I remember reading about the Heisenberg uncertainty principle in physics, not chemistry, although I think they do mention it somewhere in AP Chemistry. I guess you’re right: the more we know about others’ stats on CC, the less certain we are of our own chances of admission.

@inert101: there’s a brief section in ap chem where you learn about quantum numbers the dual particle-wave nature of electrons. Also @macunian, see if your counselor can mention the reason for the grade problems in his/her rec. And not all schools look at gr9 grades. (does Princeton?)

Are you kidding me? Federal topper is around 91% and BIE,K topper is like at 88%… And 80+ is like 97th percentile in BIE,K… it’s just that my college is the best one in the city and pretty much everyone cracks the board exams (the average at my college is like 76%)…

Seriously i dnt knw Where in da world u are

Federal board is a lot thougher than Sindh board. and i just confirmed with my friends who gave sindhboard ( he told me da highest is 509/550 --93%) and federal friend ( told me Highest in federal board is (88%) .
just ask any person who have a better knowledge of curiculum. Every one says Fedral is lot tougher than Sindh board.

maybe u will be in Adamjee or Dj . ( i knw they all hit gud %) .

btw my friend topped in 3rd in Biek -91% so plx dont tellme highest is 88 in Sindhboard :S )
