The Official Pakistani Thread for the Class of 2014

@hb730: I know Stanford doesn’t look at 9th grade grades.

thnks for the advice…
where are u guys mostly from…karachi? tu konsa school?

and btw fin aid main what do we have to do…did u guys(ed ones) send isfaa and certification of finances from collegeboard?

mancunian:where are u guys mostly from…karachi? tu konsa school?

After talking with hb730, even revealing that seems a bit awkward…

Hey guys should I use fee waivers because to be honest, I have to use them. Will they affect my chances. Anybody know about this and are you guys using fee waivers?

@Dark_Angel

3rd position with 91% in BIEK??? Not possible… I know people who had 5th and 7th positions this year(they were from my college actually)… they were around 87% … And 88% is NOT the highest in Federal… cuz if that is so, a friend of mine got 88, he should have been the highest, but he isn’t…

No doubt Federal curriculum is way better and updated than BIEK’s… but scoring marks is harder in BIEK…I had to write 34 pages in two and half hours for my chem paper… after that I got 95…

And I am not from Adamjee or DJ…

@waji
i was wondering the same thing…familys contribution arnd 15k dollars but honestly with SAT, toefl, reporting, and courier for transcripts etc… app costs are running over $1000 already…
so do fee waivers have a negative effect on app chances esp if as fees ull be payig anrd 40-60 percent?

@Ecthelion: No need to be bitter about that mate…

Come on guys, call up your friends, ask around, we need to add to our list!

@Inert101: I was kidding man…i guess my sense of humor too has taken a hit these days…

Hahah @ecthelion and mancunian: I’m from KAS as i’ve said several times before. Virtually everyone who knows me knows who I am on cc (and I know everyone else from kas here as well) so it’s no big secret!

im a Pakistani prospective student graduating this year as well! from KAS (karachi american schooL)

greetings fellow KASer and person from my class! :p

Hello,
It has been a wonderful year for LAS… 3 penn, 1 stanford, and inshAllah a lot more to come…

Amazing to hear about the rest!

@Havylevel9: My friend, i officially welcome you to this forum. If you follow the voice of reason, then you will find no place more hospitable. If you don’t…well, we will cross that bridge when we come to it…

Havylevel9? The 9 gives you away.

HAAVY! so correction on Inert i think the Wharton dudes SAT 2250… 10 points man makes a LOT of difference…

Inert i like ur score
where you from?

app fee waivers have absolutely no effect on your applications…not at all. dont even worry about it. Just type up a letter, get it signed by the counsellor and send it in.

Depends on what you’re doing. If you’re in A-Levels, since A-Levels is 13th years of education, they only count your last 4 years i.e 10-13th grades. So the 9th grade results aren’t even checked

thnx Khan n joiyya. n if u have time can I send u my essays for critique?

@Havylevel9: No, I’m absolutely certain that it’s a 2240. I know the dude well, unless you know him better which I highly doubt… ;)

@joiya550: That being said grades are still the most important factor when deciding admissions, even more important than sat scores, since they show effort over a long period of time instead of just 3 hours of work for the sat.

Hi To new ppl AT CC harvy zaki and others

BEst of Luck to all w8ing for 15/12 :wink:

Grades more imp than SAT exactly ;)
