<p>You know, it is strange. Our school is Cambridge’s favorite. Every year, at least one goes to cam but this year they rejected one of our most competitive classes ever. Only a couple were waitlisted and one of them had like three distinctions in O levels. I shudder to think about the stats of people who did get accepted to Cambridge :(</p>

<p>Same at our school…6 were called for interview and none got selected.Among thm was a person with 6A’s in A lvlz and coupl of world distinctiions at O lvlz.
Some1 2ld me K.G.S had 16 shortlisted for interview and none got got selected…It still remains a mystery that who got selected…lolx</p>

<p>British universities base their decisions only on academics, and nothing else. I’m sure there’s a 50-A’s-in-A-levels dude out there somewhere in the country who’s ruining it for everyone else.</p>

<p>Yeah ur right Inert… British colleges are more academic oriented than American colleges. But then again top colleges like Cambridge and Oxford are a reach for everyone so i guess it just becomes a game of luck when one’s stats are good.</p>

<p>apart from cambridge and Oxford though, Any news on more Ivy acceptences… WE are hundreds of millions of people in this country, THIS CANT BE ALL!</p>

<p>@nemesis and Samtjt, Oxbridge admissions are purely made on academic bases. However, we Pakistanis misinterpret that as “academic merit” and are puzzled by the cases of students who don’t get in despite stellar academic records. What my limited experience of Oxbridge admissions says is that they do not look for how far you have come academically, but how far they can take you. And judging that is the purpose of the interview i.e. they look at ‘how’ exactly you got the grades you got (brilliance, hardwork, ratta, luck or tuitions) by looking at how you react to new information and concepts.</p>

<p>This is based solely on my limited experience of the Oxbridge admissions process (I got into Cambridge last year and Oxford this year).</p>

<p>Great…Agreed but what is the criteria for the interview call?..I had world distinction(in Chem) and pak top(in pak studiz)…People with lesser grades and extra curricular than me got an interview call but i didnt!..My PS was not bad either.How did thy judge me?</p>

<p>Take the case of Aitchison head boy…He has a world distinction in maths and bst 7,8 and 9 Az in O lvlz throughout Pak and he is the head boy of an intuition which has a history…and he also did not get an interview call. Is he not academically equal or in cases better than 60-70 people called for the interview?</p>

<p>By the way I am happy that I did not waste 1 lakh for a trip to Dubai for interview…lolx</p>
