The official Pakistani Thread for the class of 2016

Pretty good. I’m only worried about the essay; hopefully we’ll get a good topic.

Well essay is the least of my worries, but CR is definitely going to kick my ass.

S has never had problems with CR and has never needed to prepare for it. However, I found this thread which might help:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/1024138-how-i-got-800-sat-critical-reading-story-guide.html</a></p>

How many do you usually get wrong in CR?

Thanks, but kind of really late for me to follow the pattern he gave. But thanks for the share, might help others out there.

Well the final score sums up to be around 630-650 and I really need it to be 700+. :(

I think anything above a 600 in CR is pretty good for applicants to engineering schools from non native english speaking countries, such as Pakistan. I do not think MIT even cares about the SAT, if you can score close to 800s on math and science on SAT IIs.

S has been consistently between 710-770 in CR on the home tests. I hope he can keep it together on saturday.

Well If you went through the thread, I literally lack strong academics, so getting near perfect scores in all sections of SAT and a great personal statement is the only way I’m going to stand a teeny tiny chance of getting into let alone a good college. So I guess getting above 600 isnt just what I need.

And wow, well best of luck for his test, hope so everyone does well.

I scored 800 in CR yesterday. Here’s my advice for passage questions: don’t over-interpret. The answer is mostly a straightforward restatement of what’s in the passage and should immediately jump out at you. If it doesn’t, go read the relevant part of the passage again.

Woah, I’m getting near perfect scores in Maths section (740-780) and almost the same in writing and the only thing that worries me is CR. :O

Well I’ll keep that in mind, still got a day to work things up. Hopefully I’ll manage something good out of it.

How’d the SAT go guys?

I’ve never posted on the Pakistani board, but let’s give it a go! I was basically in your shoes for the longest time worrying about where to get in, (I’m pakistani-american) and so eventually I applied ED to NYU, and was accepted. I was pretty happy of the idea of living in NYC, but the school itself, I’m not too sure about anymore.

Chance a brother? Thanks! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1197739-transferring-nyu-need-opinions.html</a></p>

Mine went pretty good Glaedr. Hoping for a great score, how’d your essay go?

The essay went fine, thankfully. I’m also expecting a pretty good score.

If your cr score is low, just don’t send them to MIT. Your ECs suggest you enjoy math a lot. in my opinion, just make sure you nail the SAT II subject tests.

@usamatiwana: I noticed you are thinking of applying to Lehigh. Please keep in mind, this school is located in a small town in the middle of no where in PA (Allah mian ka pichwara), where there is not much to do i.e. (No good desi restaurants or large Pakistani community). Unless you have family in the area, it could get boring.

[Google Maps](<a href=“Google Maps”>Google Maps)

@perazziman. Are you looking for pakistani community where you’re applying? just because there arent any pakis in an area doesnt mean someone shouldnt go there. Although, a small town would get boring for college.

Perazzima I’ll keep your advice about sending my scores. Thanks.

About applying to Lehigh, well most big towns dont have much of pakistani communities either, Plus location and the campus won’t be a big problem unless the program’s worth it. I’m pretty sure once things get into a steady stream, I’ll be able to find something to do get rid of the boredom.

Either that or family.

Have you lived a couple of years on your own in a community without Pakistanis? Although, I noticed the colleges you have selected are in places of great diversity (with large paki communities), except perhaps Notre Dame and Cornell.
